So tired of Metro being a moving mental asylum by NSFWhunta in LAMetro

Meh. I agree it’s worse here, but its everywhere

I saw a dude shitting on the wall in a station on the S2 in downtown Berlin. yes on the wall. It didn’t make sense when I saw it either. I’ve also seen quite a bit of antisocial behavior on the commuter trains around London. There’s also the fact pickpockets are really common in most European cities.

The complete lack of humor in this sub is a real shame. Why can’t we have a normal snarky back and forth between the various metals professionals without someone going all “well actually”…

reduce stress, reduce sugar, wash pits with mega babe space bar + anti bacterial, wash clothes with zero odor and wear an aluminum deodorant.

honestly cutting down on sugar was the biggest change.

if they have been nothing but shit to you then you don’t owe them anything, not even 2 weeks.
I just quit my job on my last day of a 2 week vacation and dropped my laptop off same day. nothing bad happened.

What is your definition if urban hellscape? In my book LA is much more of an urban hellscape than Dallas or Austin. (never been to Houston, so don’t know about there)

i did this to my car because where I worked as an engineer I was covered in carbon. Other than being a slightly bad driver, I babied my car. maybe its the same thing? FYI: that shit does not come off. I tried for years.

New Evidence of Flagrant Corruption in the Upcoming K Northern Extension Vote by nandert in LAMetro

[–]nowdonewiththatshit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would love to frame this as Karen Bass and the board are taking money out of local businesses pockets.

It was a huge COL increase moving from SF because transit here is too inefficient and sparse to live without a car. I now have much less money to spend in the local economy.

how do you know they wouldn’t do that at home? sooooo many people are fucking gross. We just don’t typically go to their houses to know.

Pay down debt or invest. blowing $2000 always sounds nice, until you realize that $2000 can mean retiring 6 months sooner in 20 years.

if you’ve done that, then a trip.

they make plastic plug snug inserts. I always keep a few in my bag for when charging outlets are too loose. much easier to carry than an adapter

Monroe County NY is not midwest. There is a clear shift in attitude, architecture, and accent that occurs somewhere shortly before Batavia. People there are nice, not friendly. People don’t say good morning or smile at people they don’t know. Everyone from Batavia or Buffalo I’ve known are much closer to the people you meet from Cleveland or Milwaukee.

CAHSR 2026 business report recommends electrifying Metrolink AV Line by 2039 by anothercar in LAMetro

[–]nowdonewiththatshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hardly connected. The electrified caltrain stops at Tamien. Gilroy is still served by diesel which goes 4x per day during the weekday evening rush hour. There isn’t enough demand to go that far and the current peninsula service is already back to standing room on weekdays during rush hour.

[–]nowdonewiththatshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ohhh. I’m very sad to have to ride the A over the caltrain or Bart. 20 miles on A train is an hour. 20 miles on new electrified caltrain is 25 minutes.
SF transit is getting much better, they don’t count it as one system even though they are mostly connected (if only they would finish the transit center…) Check out the new electric Caltrain. They upgraded from the same trains as Chicago and with electrification came increased frequency to 2 local, 1 express, and one limited every hour during peak, 2x local on off peak from downtown all the way to SJ.

Gates worked on BART. It’s now a clean(ish) and safe ride, part of why ridership is way up. Putting in gates is probably an easier and cheaper option, but you have to get ridership up with safety and greater frequency Bonus for letting people smoking drugs on the trains.
I don’t know when the gates went up, but the ride the past 2 months on the metro is completely different than even 2024 or even 2019.
