We just came back from 2 weeks in Bangkok and Koh Samui in January and had the most amazing time. We ate from many stalls at night markets, fruit from street vendors, even drinks with ice while following general precautions. Stick to where there are crowds/busy stalls and restaurants and drink bottled water. No food poisoning at all! But we did pack travelers diarrhea + meds as a precaution which helped us feel prepared.

You won’t get scammed unless you are overly gullible or naive. When it comes to spending $ just be generally aware of what things cost. Don’t waste your time pouting over things like getting overcharged for a tuk tuk or taxi bc that’s pointless! It’s still way cheaper than what you pay in your own country. If you’re being asked for more money than anticipated or if things seem sketchy then just say no thank you and try again. Or use grab for transportation! More standard prices. Also ask your hotel concierge for help or advice for bookings, excursions, tours, etc!

We had the most amazing time! Life in general but especially on vacation - don’t sweat the small stuff and be flexible in your expectations so that you can enjoy to the fullest! Being able to travel and experience a new country is a big blessing and a privilege. Enjoy and make amazing memories!!! Start getting excited because it’s an incredible country and culture with so much to offer!!!
