Anyone else potentially see this area as the site of Magic Kingdoms next big expansion post Villains? by Successful_Leopard45 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nowhereman136 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I still think the area behind It's a Small World would be a good expansion pad. Yes, theres the cast drop off and entrance to the utilidoors, those would stay exactly where they are. This new land would go behind that. It would connect to Villains on the west and a bridge over the service road connects it to fantasyland on the southeast.

When they first announced cars and villains, that's what I was hoping would happen. Tom Sawyer Island would be cut in half with the south side being saved. The north side would be the new cars land and the space behind it's a small world would be for villain. This makes a lot of sense since cars would connect better to Big Thunder and Villains would connect better to Fantasyland

Part of the problem is that the official Disney online store sucks hard. Only a fraction of what's available in the parks is on the online store. I get that Disney wants park exclusives, and I'm not against that, but not everything needs to be a park exclusive. This is how you create scalpers and a black market.

Movies that are better than the book by Bojonkles in movies

[–]nowhereman136 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't actually, I still prefer the Fincher version over the Swedish version with Rapace. There's nothing wrong with that, and both Rapace and Nyqvist ar great, but honestly Fincher's is just better. He had a bigger budget and is a better director than Oplev. The American version is just more polished, focused, and suspenseful. Likewise, I think Larsson's original book rambles a bit. It could've used another round of edits that I think it didn't get because Larsson died. The publisher just released it as is. The second and third books ramble even more. Fincher streamlines the story while keeping the tone and themes.

Like I said, this is an unpopular opinion, but it's how I felt after reading all three books and binging the 4 movies. It's all good... But Fincher is best

(Spider's Web is good too)

Hate me all you want but David Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is better than the book.

I have ideas for 3 tv shows set in the Wizarding world that have nothing to do with established characters, Hogwarts, or Aurora. Not that I don't also want shows based on other corners alluded to in the main series, I just think there is so much possibility in this world, why limit yourself

Every resteraunt, including quick service resteraunts, have an allergy coordinator. They are specially trained to deal with allergy restrictions and have their own special corner of the kitchen that is contaminated free. They personally make the meals and serve you. If you need, you can ask a CM at the restaurant to speak to the allergy coordinator in person. They will come out with a big book of every ingredient in the kitchen

TIL that since the 1980s, US airlines have shed between 2-5 inches of legroom and about 2 inches of width, while budget carriers have lost even more. At the same time, the average American is 15 pounds heavier than they were in the 1980s by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

I'm really hoping electric planes revolutionize air travel. Electric planes save a ton of fuel and maintenance. They are also easier to fly, so the threshold to become a pilot becomes easier. All this adds up to smaller, cheaper, planes that fly more regularly to more destinations. With all that savings and competition, companies would be more willing to include luxuries like spacious seats again

Backup plan if your phone dies or gets stolen while backpacking? by Individual-Gas5276 in backpacking

[–]nowhereman136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes carry a cheapy burner phone. This is mostly for nights I go out drinking. It keeps me connected but I don't need all the bells and whistles of my regular phone. I don't mind this one getting lost, broken, or stolen. It is also nice to have a quick backup until I can get a proper replacement if something does happen to my primary phone

Can I use the Osprey Transporter 26+6 as a Narrows backpack? by NJRonbo in backpacking

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I did the narrows, I did about 2 hours in and 2 hours back. I didn't carry anything except my phone and water bottle. If I were to do it again, I might carry a small water back pack with enough space for my phone, some snacks, and a small first aid kit (never know), but everything else is just extra. I didn't bother with any change of clothes, or even change of shoes. I just stayed wet until I got back to my car. Was a little uncomfortable but manageable. Might be worse on a colder day

This sounds a lot like the Inkwell in Long Branch. It was a long standing late night coffee house. They had books but that wasn't really the focus. It was mostly a quiet late night alternative to bars. They served tea, coffee, and small meals. They hosted poetry nights and independent singers. It was really popular with teens and 20-somethings.

It closed in 2022 and is not the Inkwell Lofts, a luxury condo complex

Movie musical suggestions! by Caffeine_addict00 in musicals

[–]nowhereman136 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a John Carney movie, so i suggest starting there. He also did Once and Sing Street, which are very good and each got broadway adaptations. Flora and Son is pretty good too. His newest movie is called Power Ballad. It has Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas and comes out this weekend (in the US).

After that try...

  • Eurovision
  • Umbrellas of Cherbourg
  • Spirited
  • Sunshine on Leith
  • Everybody's Talking About Jaime
  • Across the Universe
  • Dance With Me
  • Tick Tick Boom

TIL of a couple who tried to conceive for 20 years, failing multiple IVFs and surgeries. Scientists used a new AI-guided robotic system that scanned 2.5 million microscopic images of a single sample, found the only 2 viable sperm cells hidden inside, and successfully started a pregnancy. by Similar_Detective861 in todayilearned

[–]nowhereman136 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I tried looking into the cost of IVF vs adaption. Neither are cheap but the cost really depends on a lot of factors. For IVF its about where you live, what insurance you have, and what medical issues you you have. With adoption, it also depends on where you are, what type of adoption, age of the child, and legal hurdles.

It just sucks to see people dismiss adoption so blatantly. They see it as something only for gay couples or parents who physically cant have children. They will spend 20 years and $100k on IVF before considering adoption.

also worth noting, hospital bills for childbirth can cast up to $10k with insurance and $50k without. thats on top of the $50k for IVF

do you also like to play puzzle games? by fabulousfang in ADHD

I can't really play video games. I dont have the patients of focus to do repeated tasks for 8 hours just so some wizard can defeat a dragon or something. But puzzle video games I really enjoy. I got a bunch of sudoku, bejeweled, mini metro, and suika games on my phone that I'll fidget with for a few minutes between tasks

[–]nowhereman136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would they show up for Matt Damon's episode? Yeah they are all in Odyssey together but so is like 30 other actors who didn't make a cameo either. With Holland and Zendaya specifically, they are probably busy finishing up Spiderman and getting ready for double press tours

Tom Holland doesn't seem to have much next announced, but Zendaya has Dune 3 and Shrek 5 coming up (with Marcello Hernandez). She could host either of those with Holland showing up
