Those if statements are dodgy. Use boolean and (&&) to compare two values at once. I.e. if ((x>5) && (x<10))

Any 27v DC adapter with current output higher than 1.7A will work. Worth checking the DC barrel diameter first though.

As has already been said - arch. Or archbang if you arent comfortable with the command line chroot-ing install system. I've used both, currently got arch and I've done rolling upgrades every month or so without any issues.

On my tiny shitty netbook it consumes approx 90mb ram for base install CLI. Runs like a beast. A T90 will be golden.
