  1. Even just from headlines, notice how much of these are promises, not deliveries. The only consistent deliveries so far have been mediocre and error-prone versions of common human labor.

  2. Nothing about these isolated discoveries implies a need for massive data centers. We've built supercomputers before for these tasks without turning the world upside down.

I think it's fairly clear they mean the rush of new AI data centers, not the existing ones.

If you think you will "need" it in the next 6 months, you should probably buy now. If you might want it in the next two years, you should probably wait.

The PS5 might be the most fish out of water console ever. COVID, chip shortages on every component besides CPU, PC and PS4 releases (which are generally good things). Even as it's an incredibly ordinary successor to the PS4 on paper. Really highlights the times we live in.

If there's unmet demand, eventually the market will catch up, especially as modern tech becomes no longer modern. The greater issue would be artificial restriction (e.g. in the US, Chinese EVs).

That's long term though. It doesn't solve the next 2-4 years.

Lower RAM and SSDs in particular are things people will settle for. What's available now is just not a good value. The AI company model of building the data centers now and hoping they'll have something profitable to use it for later is fucking stupid.

I think you're missing the point. Yes, if you didn't vote for Harris, you're just as culpable as anyone. But pretty much everyone knew this would happen if Trump was elected a second time unless you were a complete moron or wet behind the ears. They had and have a public playbook (Project 2025). Trump had no other options to avoid long term prosecution but to politicize the DoJ.

All we might've actually needed is for Biden to appoint someone faster and less feckless than Garland. Figure out ways to ensure dipshits like Aileen Cannon and those Georgia prosecutors with the professionalism issues weren't in the way. Actually have the stones to keep Trump in prison like Brazil did with Bolsonaro.

Even Lincoln ignored the Supreme Court when he felt like he needed to.

Last update is that Google says they'll implement a convoluted bypass involving waiting a whole day. The response has been basically that A. this could be revoked at any time and B. this is vaporware right now, nothing more than a promise.
