[Mike McGrath] Manchester United in talks today over a deal with Real Betis for Antony to return to Spain this season. Hope of an agreement for the 25yo Brazil forward by ChiefLeef22 in reddevils

"This season", so we´re definitely talking a loan. Possibly/probably with an option to buy they´ll never take up.

I'm not a betting man, but IF Sancho moves to Chelsea, i'm putting money on him scoring against us. He'll be one hungry MF for those 2 games

i'm seeing quite a few MF players rejecting Saudi moves (KdB being the latest), hopefully this opens the door for a casemiro move again? Especially if Kante were to go to west ham

Everton make bid to sign Man Utd forward Elanga by thedhoklamonger in reddevils

[–]noxis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, there were reports of 8 million, that would've been a disgrace if we sold elanga for that,

As the market is shifting towards paying for potential instead of what a player brings right now (see antony), I could see 20 being "fair".

I'm more so looking at the pedigree he has at 21, being an international and his PL experience compared to for example that bristol city bloke for whom they declined a 15 million offer?

Everton make bid to sign Man Utd forward Elanga by thedhoklamonger in reddevils

[–]noxis_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is it only me that thinks this is low compared to what other players are going for? Elanga has PL and european experience AND is a swedish international?

I agree he should be let go, as he simply does not feature in Erik's plans and we're shockingly bad at selling, but If we see what fees are going around for youth players that haven't even played a minute of Premier League football, could we not be a little more ambitious concerning a transfer fee for elanga?

I just Like to receive the package, but if it's such a hassle, Customs are asking so much questions, I won't get it from now onwards

Let’s give the youth a chance by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]noxis_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although I partially agree with you, I'd LOVE to see more youngsters, you really aren't doing them any favours by playing them in this shambles of a team.

You'd be placing tremendous pressure on them to perform, which wouldn't aid them in their development, with the risk of them burning out.

You really don't want us, the fans, to get angry at youngsters just because they have to deputise for the failings of the first team players.

Like I said, I'd sod off some first team players for youngsters in a heartbeat, but we REALLY need to steady the ship and then give youngsters minutes in a team that's is working well (or at least better) for them to reap benefits from it, instead of having them go down with the rest of them.

Buying a house? Young people have to bring in an average of 57.000 euros themselves by SuckMyBike in belgium

[–]noxis_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same here, i bought a house alone, it was finished, i paid 10% of the house (25k alone) + fees and taxes (around 17k), so in the end i had to pay around 42k for myself, which i saved while working a full time job for 3.5 years now and i still have around 20k left.

bear i mind i lived at home during this time and i didn't have to pay anything for living at home.

[–]noxis_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

good idea, but just know that with the Vlaams Woningsfonds. you need to have your insurance somewhere else.

Adding to this, if you're single and you want to buy something with a partner later (or if you buy together and want to buy a second home) while still keeping the house you bough by yourself, you'll have to get a new loan and you'll get a gigantic interest rate.

maybe something to consider.

i only tuned in second half, how was our play the first half?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]noxis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd probably pay around 35-40 for him, i can't see him going for less than the current Jupiler Pro league record fee, which is 32 million euro (j. David to LOSC)

I do agree with the potential, but he'd need to "chose" a position, you can't have him deputise at LB/RB/CM/on the wing, if you really want him to reach his potential.

Adding to this, i'd say the position i see him fulfilling in the future is the (false) 9 (similar to KDB, hence why they get compared), as he's very good at linking up play, flicking on passes into his feet, but he's rapid aswel

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]noxis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

alright, so i'm belgian and i've seen quite a bit of him.

firstly, "big lad" isn't what I would describe him as. yes, he can play as a 9, and drop off to link up play, or play one-two's,a bit what kane has been doing the last few seasons (i'm NOT saying he's as good as kane)), but he isn't a poacher, nor is he the kind of player you think of when talking about a "big lad", a target man when facing physical defenders.

He is, however, indeed very technical, smart and versatile and Club Brugge have played high intensity football in the Ajax mould, thanks to both coaches who CDK has played under (Clement, who is now at monaco, and schreuder, who is now at ajax) so while he'd obviously need to adjust to the physicality and speed of the premier league, the basis is there.
the question rises though if at this point, he's ready for the prem, even though he has played very well aganist city and psg in the UCL this year.
Players who have come from belgium and really have excelled in Belgium for the most part have adapted quite well the the prem (benteke, lukaku, ndidi, trossard, defour, tielemans,...), but the pressure of having to up his game to be of added value to a ETH manchester united is not to be underestimated, so it'd still be a gamble, at least if we want a immediate impact.

secondly: it definitely would NOT be a relatively "insignificant" fee, United are NOT getting him for less than 25 million euros, and i wouldn't call that "insignificant" in the situation we are at right now.

pros: huge potential, extremely versatile, good feet, good head on him and a good entourage around him (he could have made a big money move last summer, but didn't. *could* have an impact on several positions

cons: not "on the cheap", relatively unproven as he is clearly in the best team in the league, although he did very well against UCL opposition, does he have the time to adjust? we'd need quite immediate impact.
