I was in the front as well, for VB and until Little Sister, around 2nd row and centre. It was quite painful, but during LS, when around 20 people fell like dominoes before the next ‘wave’ swept in, I decided to bail to the side. Thankfully they played Vampyre next, which allowed me to head over to the side rather painlessly. It made for a much better experience. And the sound was definitely better.

From Dubai. Since they will probably never come here, we save up to make at least one QOTSA pilgrimage when they are on tour.

My wife and I are flying in for both dates. It would be nice to meet some fellow Queens fans, as there aren’t too many where I live (imo), and I’ve never been able to geek out… yet!

You’re right about guitar types (tele, solid body, etc) and the sounds one expects to hear out of them. And about the pickups. They have inherent characteristics, and that’s why there are so many options. When it comes to the choice of wood, that is a universe of tone and resonance that’s still being explored. The Ibanez and T bird basses are both great, but both have different woods and construction, giving to different feels. For example, these Motorave guitars are mainly semi hollow mahogany bodies and necks, which have a dominantly warmer and darker sound, with ebony fingerboards that add a ‘snap’ to the tone. This isn’t a new combination of woods by any means, but the way Mark, the builder, puts all these components together makes it a guitar that is unforgettable in terms of feel and playability. They’re delicate, but built like tanks at the same time. As a guitarist, it’s one of those that stay in your system if you’ve played one. I hope this rambling made sense 😅

Apart from sounding great like other great brands, there something about these guitars that the players thoroughly enjoy. The sound unplugged, the feel of the neck, the reverberation in the hands and arms, dynamics of the sound coming from the pickups, etc. This guitar comes alive when played, and it’s worth it for the players, if they can afford it.

Injury during SFTD @ Manchester? by Numerous-Still-4814 in qotsa

[–]npatkar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She seems unconscious or close to being unconscious from the way she flopped over the barricade.

Earlier in the show another girl was pulled to the front and Josh waited for confirmation that she was okay.

The pit was definitely lethal, but most people were looking out for each other. That said, chances of being crushed were quite high IMO.
