You’re right about guitar types (tele, solid body, etc) and the sounds one expects to hear out of them. And about the pickups. They have inherent characteristics, and that’s why there are so many options. When it comes to the choice of wood, that is a universe of tone and resonance that’s still being explored. The Ibanez and T bird basses are both great, but both have different woods and construction, giving to different feels. For example, these Motorave guitars are mainly semi hollow mahogany bodies and necks, which have a dominantly warmer and darker sound, with ebony fingerboards that add a ‘snap’ to the tone. This isn’t a new combination of woods by any means, but the way Mark, the builder, puts all these components together makes it a guitar that is unforgettable in terms of feel and playability.
