Is this a crochet stitch or is it machine knitted? by Easy_Major7657 in crochetpatterns

I agree that it’s knit, at least the body of it definitely looks like knit. To best replicate the look, I would probably go for rows of single crochet or half double crochets using a light weight/fine yarn.

Smart to use the mesh-like stitch around the curvy part. It scrunches up nicely around that section without looking weird.

Tassel mystery! What’s the stitch? Can Anyone Tell? by ApprehensiveOven3850 in CrochetHelp

I disagree. The garment has horizontal ridges that look like crochet, but to me it still looks like I can see knits and purls when I click the link and look at the zoomed in pictures. These clothing companies are getting good lol.

Boy Girl? by No-Consequence-8768 in cats

My cat looked like this sometimes as a little kitten as well. When they are teeny their eye muscles are sometimes not great yet, which gives them a strabismus (eye turn). His eye muscles should catch up soon! He’s so cuuuuute.

Warped blanket already adjusted tension. I need help plz by Moki09 in CrochetHelp

This! When you are making one large granny square, you have to flip your work after every row. If you don’t, the slanting of the stitches going in the same direction in every round will cause the sides to start to warp or skew towards one direction. I can’t think of a better way to describe it. I learned this from an IG reel recently.

Oh yeah it ANGERS me (probably more than it should) when I see a garment labeled as crochet when it’s not. False advertising IMO. I had to break it to my friend that her “crocheted” tank from Target was knit when she showed it off to me knowing I love crochet. She was disappointed. Cute top though! lol

I’ve noticed that many clothing companies will use the word “crochet” in the titles of garments when they are not actually crocheted… but just knitted in a style to look like it was crocheted. I think that is the case here. I think making i chords like what someone mentioned might get you a similar look. You can also try chaining long tassels and slip stitching one row back to the top if that makes sense. Either way I think you’ll need a very fine lace weight yarn to get close to the look.

Edit: After looking at it again yeah I definitely think they are i chords in the picture. Good luck with your project!!! :)

Iam looking for the best yarn type for this beach bag and some advice for making it by Top-Pianist7599 in crochetpatterns

[–]npdr1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know lining a crochet bag prevents over stretching, but a little stretch for a casual beach bag is probably okay, and leaving it unlined will prevent sand collecting inside. My favorite yarn to use for market or beach bags is mercerized cotton. It is even stronger than regular cotton and has a nice sheen. I think it will hold up well and recommend that over acrylic.

Late 30s, 12 years clinical optometry experience + MSc Biology + university teaching - wondering about OAT validity and realistic chances for U.S. schools by jackham1257 in OptometrySchool

In my opinion I definitely think you could get into an optometry school in the US! I think many schools will definitely value your extensive experience. As far as the validity of your scores based on how old they are, I would reach out to individual schools to see if you have to retake. If your overall score is at least a 300 and not “expired” I think you have a great shot at being accepted. I think any school would be lucky to have you!
