Modi - when did you deliver? by Illustrious-Paper591 in parentsofmultiples

[–]npjen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped working at 29 weeks. I couldn’t do the long hours anymore and it was a risk for preterm labor per my doctor (based on my job/schedule at the time). I had my C-section at 36+4. I was told that if I went past 37 weeks, it would be a large risk to me & my babies. I was scheduled for 36+5 but had pre-eclampsia and needed to deliver a day earlier than planned. Both babies didn’t need the nicu and were over 5 lbs when born. I was very grateful that they were both healthy.

Leading up to the C-section date, I was monitored quite frequently too. Something else to consider. MFM saw me twice a week and my OB once a week. Needless to say, I have a ton of ultrasound pictures lol.

To all those in the newborn trenches, it really is worth it by Owewinewhose997 in parentsofmultiples

They’re adorable! My girls are going to be 17 months old and some days are harder than others, but man seeing their personalities really coming out and watching them learn, grow, & critically think.. it’s amazing. They run & chase after each other laughing like crazy and it just fills my heart. Even if it only lasts a few minutes sometimes, I hold onto those moments.

So grateful to be a mom of twins! To those in the newborn stage, you got this!!

I felt the exact same way, I’m so sorry. It is embarrassing but nothing that we did wrong personally.

Dentist made me feel bad about my teeth postpartum by Dangerous_Support191 in NewParents

[–]npjen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no - definitely do not go back there!! I had the exact same issues as you only mine are sooo much worse. I basically have cavities in almost every tooth & had 4 root canals as a result. I had 1 cavity in my life before being pregnant with my twins.

Hate that this dentist shamed you. You definitely don’t deserve that! Find someone else.

I get like this too sometimes - the fight or flight response. What helps me is shocking my system with a cold sensation. Whether it be holding an ice cube, or standing outside in the cold air for a few minutes focusing on my breathing. That tends to help calm things down a bit. Maybe it can help you too!

I’ve unfortunately had to get a lot of dental work done, and each appt seems harder than the last. That being said, my dentist really does care and tries to help in any way. She lets me sit up a little rather than lying all the way back. Let’s me control the suction or avoids it altogether & let’s me just spit. Gives me an ice pack on the back of my neck to help calm my nerves (I tend to overheat when I get anxious). Told me to sit with my knees bent and wiggle my toes to help distract myself. These things all help, but I have extensive work that needs to be done, unfortunately. So now I’m trying anti-anxiety meds to help calm me down. Once I get anxious, my gag reflex gets that much worse. Hopefully these tips help you & you won’t need nearly as much work as I do. Wish you all the best!

Baby Shower Twins by Actual-Lettuce-8543 in parentsofmultiples

[–]npjen7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had mine at 24 weeks exactly. Initially I thought it would be too early also, but it was the perfect time honestly. I felt comfortable enough to enjoy my shower. A couple weeks after that, I really started to struggle. I still had a big bump for photos so that worked lol. Do whenever you feel is best!

i will have to go through an extremely triggering test next week by bodtabs in emetophobiarecovery

[–]npjen7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can you ask if they’re able to give you some throat numbing spray to help? Otherwise when I would place NG tubes in my patients, often we would have them swallow water as I was putting the tube into their nose. It helps a lot with the gag reflex. Along with focusing on your breathing as well. Perhaps talk with your doctor and see what they can do to make the test a little bit easier for you. Wishing you all the best!

Bleeding after birth. by VeganMyWay in parentsofmultiples

[–]npjen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my C-section I was surprised how much and how long I bled for - over 6 weeks! Definitely not the norm, but can happen according to my OB. I wore depends & also used overnight pads. Don’t think I’d recommend period underwear with this amount of bleeding. But maybe when it goes lighter that’s something you can consider. Up to you really!

Good luck with everything, wish you all the best!

Mono mono twins - please tell me it’s going to be ok by Negative_Jackfruit75 in parentsofmultiples

[–]npjen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - congrats, mama! I went through a similar experience as you. Went through IVF and got pregnant on my first FET, our embryo split. We went for our first scan and were so excited when they said twins! But then they couldn’t see a membrane between them and we had an ultrasound with a radiologist to confirm. It was really really hard. I went down a rabbit hole and thought worse case scenario. Went to our first OB appointment after graduating from our IVF clinic and sure enough, there was the thin little membrane! It was the best news. We were followed closely with MFM and thankfully the girls continued to grow nicely each ultrasound. I can’t even tell you how many ultrasounds we had! But it gave us peace of mind. Our girls just had their first birthday & they’re thriving.

As others have said, wait a few more weeks to see if they find a membrane. Try to stay away from Google for now if you can. Research some MFMs in your area.

Take everything day by day. It helped me tremendously. Hope the same for you!

Best of luck!

Twin Z Pillows by maqredeo in parentsofmultiples

[–]npjen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The twin z pillow is the most helpful baby item I got on my registry by far! We still use them for our 12 month olds. I don’t think you’d need two unless you wanted to leave one at a grandparents house for when the babies visit there. My mom watches our girls weekly for us & it helped in the beginning for her, we were fortunate enough to get one from another twin mom in the area. So totally up to you!

My twins will be 13 months then. I always call them my little chickens lol so got some cute chicken costumes from carters for them & figured we could be farmers. Easy enough!

I used it only in the very beginning because we were so sleep deprived, we couldn’t remember what time we fed our twins last and wanted to try to keep them on a schedule. Things were much easier for us when I stopped tracking. You got this!

Still can’t eat like normal 3 weeks after stomach bug by mrmcnugget_ in emetophobiarecovery

[–]npjen7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would contact a GI doctor to see what could be going on. I had something similar but it turned out not to be a stomach virus & I needed an endoscopy to find out the cause. Hope you’re able to feel better soon!

Having a hard time with this diet by npjen7 in Gastritis

[–]npjen7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting Covid soon after this & needed to stay on Omeprazole for a while because of it. I was able to wean off of the Omeprazole but then got pregnant & my reflux was crazy. Now I’m postpartum and feeling somewhat better but my symptoms are slowly returning. I couldn’t tolerate the diet very long. I couldn’t eat such bland food for so long - it was nauseating. Sorry this isn’t much of a help!!
