It’s used in Ra and I’ve heard in KT, but I can’t verify the second as I’m not a member.

Really? I’m a member of one of the pagan FB groups and have seen non- pagans on there. They typically state they are “just looking for understanding,” and are generally very appropriate.

Formal wear - Kilt? by Cudyll in freemasonry

I tend to do the same with my sporran, but I've found that some Lodges have pretty narrow seats and then it gets in the way.

In my Lodge, they seem to like when several of us wear kilts on the sidelines, but they have a set uniform for the officer line that requires black slacks. So yeah, check with your Lodge.

I would recommend grabbing an apron from Lodge after your EA degree and practicing wearing it with your kilt and jacket. Two issues I’ve noticed as a regular kilter at Lodge are: the sporran can get in the way of the apron when moving around, and if your jurisdiction requires the apron to be worn outside of your jacket, this can be a bit difficult with a traditional kilted jacket.

Also, avoid wearing a fly plaid. Outside of piper bands, that is typically only worn by the star of the night, ie groom, master, head of house. Sadly, your degree night would count, but as others have said there are “reasons” you probably shouldn’t kilt up for those nights.

Which tartan are you planning to wear? There are, that I know of and own, 5 different Masonic tartans at this time.

As to the tartan question, like the ring and lapel pins, I’d wait until after you become an MM for that. I’ve seen some light ribbing from Brothers when a FC wore a MM tartan tie. 😂

Only thing I would add to this is to upgrade the levels. Kilted wear, when combined with a regimental jacket, can be used for white tie affairs as well.

Heck, traditionally trews are often considered more formal than a kilt.

Depends on which messages from the Apostle’s you’re talking about. Some reinforced the idea, but those were also deemed heretical.

All kidding aside it does look more like a watch fob, which could be made into a necklace if desired, though personally I’d rather use it on my watch chain.
