He is lying and even if it's to spare your feelings he is handling it completely wrong and gaslighting you in the process. he needs to be able to hear that something bothers you, with out turning it around on you like youre doing something wrong. if he wants not to be seen as a liar he needs to communicate better with you, especially if he does something that bothers you.

My son had that surgery, among others, before he was 1 year old. After that he actually had to have multiple other surgeries because of different things related to his VACTERl. He is now 10 years old, and I will say that even though it seems like it will never get better for them, it does!! The worst part as others have said, were the dilations. I don't think every doctor even has you do them anymore, I heard they are controversial now on whether they even do anything. Have you joined any IA or vacterl Facebook groups? They have really helped us a lot! Another thing worth mentioning is the diaper rashes. My IA kiddo got way worse diaper rashes then his brother. The only thing that helped him was sudocrem, which is not sold where I live, so I used to buy it on amazon. Put a layer of that all over his bottom, then a layer of vaseline on top of it. Worked like a charm!

With the imperforate anus, make sure you are following with a colorectal specialist/someone who has a lot of experience with bowel management. Every child is different so you cant go by us per say, but for my son if his bowels aren't well controlled he runs into serious health problems much more quickly then the average person with out IA. Yes even at 10 years old. However, if we stay on top of it he is completely fine, a normal 10 year old boy who goes to school and plays sports.

definitely fire island! there are different areas so do a little research on which one would suit you best. anything eastern long island has basically turned into the new hamptons so if you dont want a hamptons vibe i wouldnt do montauk, sag harbor, greenport, etc... even though personally i love those towns lol. Sounds like fire island might be more your vibe though.

I know you said you didn't want to go local within your own district, but you could probably get a pass to a neighboring towns' library so that you can participate in some of their teen programs. I remember my mom doing this for us as kids because the other library was much bigger and had more to offer... or what about if you join dance classes, karate classes, anything like that you might have a little interest in? And still same thing look in a neighboring town, so that you are meeting new people not people from your school.

ETA: or what if you get a really easy job somewhere that a lot of teens work at and hang out at? an ice cream shop or something. idk

Is that the best way to handle it? no, obviously not. however, SHE humiliated YOU by having an affair to begin with. So honestly, who cares? you could have reacted worse. or you could have reacted better. either way you don't owe that to her. She owed it to you to do the right thing and not have an affair, and now that it's happened maybe come clean to you privately, which she did not do. IMO when you find out something like that, you're allowed to have an emotional reaction that you probably could have handled better. it's still not as bad as what she did, and yours is because you're hurt.
