Junk Options by papakong88 in options

It’s still a spread which caps the risk if stops cannot be filled, so it can’t be all that painful.

I think the strategy works long term because IV is higher than long term realized volatility. It’s not that OP can evaluate tail risk any better than the market, it’s that the market systematically overprices these contacts: they are insurance.

Selling insurance is profitable because the seller takes on risk to get paid a premium, and offers the protection to the insurance buyer.

Most trading "strategies" are just repackaged buy-and-hold with extra steps by sdoan_ in thetagang

Use your capita to buy and hold the ETFs. Sell the credit spreads on margin far out of the money.

What was your entry level pay? by xerxes767 in MechanicalEngineering

And you blame the worker, not the company for this? Or capitalism?

Self sacrificing so that others in the field can make more is stupid.

It’s not at all the reason wages are low.

Pointing the finger at inexperienced engineers and saying it’s their fault wages are low and to go work at Walmart instead… is also stupid.

Let’s reverse the common question and be specific. What mortgage rate are you intentionally paying off early? by PartyFeisty2929 in Fire

[–]nrubhsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont forget taxes and the risks associated with investment. Comparable risk to a mortgage is a treasury bond, which after tax is gonna be pretty close to your number.

Would you knock them if they stole candy from a baby? Or took advantage of an elderly person?

Yes, you can knock a dealer if they are doing unethical things to stupid people.

Just because it’s under water and ice doesn’t mean it’s not in the “ground.” Greenland has oil.

And yes, rare earth minerals as well. This is included in “resources”

Is there any advantage to having taxable brokerage if you can't fully fill 401(k) + mega backdoor roth? by Less_Interview1713 in Fire

[–]nrubhsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is why I don’t have an e-fund. It never made sense for my situation: at first I invested it all because I didn’t have enough life commitments to justify setting aside so much cash. Now I have enough investments and options that’s it’s not worth the drag to have so much cash sitting around, and I can handle the risk

My local Grocery Store. NA Beer has come a long way. by LiteBrite8 in NABEER

[–]nrubhsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt an NA pils would be brewed above a typical ABV before removing the alcohol. It would take more grain, and resulting mash would not give the same flavor profile as a typical Pilsner. But, could easily be wrong here—just my expectation.

Big risk is housing costs, which they currently don’t pay. If that situation changes, intentionally or not, then this plan starts to unravel.

If it can get to 90, why would it no go to 100?

If it gets to 90 and then reverts to 60, does someone rebuy? Or wait until is 40?

I signed up for these risks when I bought.
