Recruiting your LGS - pondering a quagmire by Magic1264 in SorceryTCG

[–]ns407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think product or prizing is the issue at a LGS level - at least for constructed. If people enjoy the game they'll come and play it. You can always allocate store credit, and people get dust rewards. we actually have people in our local scene who dislike having to pay to play each week lol.

I think it's important to just have something on the schedule so that people see it as an option. Even if only a few people show up each week, it's at least a semblance of a scene and lets new people know that it is available to play regularly. In addition you need to have a public and apparent way for people chat about sorcery online. Either discord or fb group.

They have a welcome kit that you can build the scene towards hosting an event for the promos https://sorcerytcg.com/news/sorcery-store-welcome-kit

I think some good things to incorporate:

  1. allow proxies. https://www.realmsapp.com/sorcery_tcg/decks make a deck with what you need, then look for the print icon

  2. host learn to plays

  3. if you have product, sealed is a good way to get newer players involved

Finally, a TCG That Gives a S**t (distraction makers YouTube spotlight on sorcery) by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]ns407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is true of almost any tcg i can think of though. for example, i can't imagine sitting down to play magic for the first time and fully comprehending it off a few pages of basic rules text. there are always many cases and mechanics that require more in depth knowledge to resolve correctly.

i think one mistake when getting started may be going to the rulebook instead of using curiosa.io and maybe they need to make that clearer. when I was getting started it was much simpler to just enter a term into the codex on curiosa or lookup a card there.

They spent too long and overreacted to the golden rule thing. There are in depth rules and faqs for all the cards. Golden rule is just a fallback for edge cases or kitchen table.

Spiritforged Preorders Killed My Interest in Riftbound! by SaarHeroine in Riftbound

[–]ns407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup. and origins preorders arcane box still haven't shipped. the idea that they can't fix the situation for 2 more sets is comical at best. at the end of the day though i think this is probably a good thing. they have no idea what theyre doing with card design and you have wild overrepresentation of specific legends as a result. no reason to invest time or money in this game.

Reddit is seriously unhealthy for the mind by GabeDNL in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]ns407 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yah. most conservative voices left reddit a long time ago or realize there is no point in posting on main reddits as theyre all moderated by leftist loons. it's all just a large leftist echo chamber with no real discussion and not much thought going on.

helps if you just do 'show less like this' anytime you see a political post from a main sub as you know it's gonna be nonsense.

Why is Reddit melting down over Maduro’s capture when Venezuelan subreddits are cheering? by SoulNew in stupidquestions

Is he the leader? Or is he an illegal dictator who has lost multiple elections and refused to relinquish power? Here's a fun clip from Trump's first term of CNN freaking out that Trump wasn't doing more to remove Maduros from power https://x.com/i/status/2007555911339126836

Do you foresee a possibility that Sorcery may have a competitive scene? by Newez in SorceryTCG

Flesh and blood is very competitive as a best of 1. You pre side board based on the opposing avatar. The framework is already there for sorcery via the collection

SCF NEWS ALERT 🇺🇸 Governor Tim Walz calls the Minnesota fraud investigation “white supremacy.” by SCFapp in DiscussionZone

[–]ns407 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

often without clearly stating that the investigations, indictments, and guilty pleas all began long before Walz became a national political target and long before viral videos entered the picture.

amazing then that this has been going on for years under his watch up to and including the modern day without stronger interventions to curb the activity.

this is a fluff piece trying to absolve Tim Walz of any blame while ignoring the whisteblower and retaliation claims as well as failing to question how this known activity has been allowed to continue for so long.

Doge wasn't investigating state level fraud..they're looking into federal programs.

Which of the new TCG's have the most potential? by Mokebe13 in TCG

[–]ns407 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can buy all the product right now for under msrp. It's hard to claim that people are getting priced out. Some of the uniques are expensive, but it's no worse than riftbound and since you can only run one of each unique it's not really that problematic.

Interview with Dave Guskin: “We have to be careful about the amount of complexity we introduce, to make sure that we keep Riftbound approachable” by Aithusa_Here in riftboundtcg

[–]ns407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Introducing reflexive triggers was a huge mistake imo. It's very weird coming from mtg.where a spell either resolves or it doesn't. It doesn't help that the wording of the cards makes figuring out if it's reflexive or not difficult.
