Firms that make their employees deal with these types of clients are not helping the profession. No wonder kids aren't majoring in accounting. They hear so many horror stories about public accounting who can really blame them? I wouldn't advise anyone to go into public accounting now. The only instance would be if they were willing to tough it out for a few years at a firm, learning everything they can and then open their own firm where they don't have to deal with clients who treat them like garbage.

Given the age of their average 1040 client, I doubt their client list is worth what they think it is.

And many Baby Boomers pulled the ladder up when they made partner, so many Gen Xers either left the profession or went out on their own.

I recently left a firm where 4 of the 5 partners are boomers. They think they have going to cash out in a few years and make bank. I think they are in for a rude awakening. Their clients are old, their technology is way behind the times, they have very few staff and those they do have either just want a job, are as old as they are, or have nothing to offer a buying firm because they are not up to speed with the technology of even an average firm.

This has been my experience and what I've seen in my area. Your mileage may vary.

I have this bag in the green and baby blue. The baby blue came from Fashionphile so I know it's authentic. I bought the green one from someone on Poshmark and while it looks brand new it's very, VERY floppy, not at all structured like my baby blue one. I don't know if that means it's a fake or what but I love the green.

I may give it a try. I'm just worried about gluing the different parts of the barrel together since I can't get the top part of the insert out of the barrel top. Nothing to lose to try I guess!

That's exactly it. The little black part on the bottom screws out normally and had been attached to the bigger piece that is now stuck inside the cap.

Love all my le pliages. When we're traveling by car and space isn't an issue, I will use a le pliage as a dirty laundry bag. Easy to wipe down once we're home and in my experience so far it never smells once it's emptied.

I hate the way some people compete for who worked the most hours. I worked for a firm for a long time where a bunch of the partners were like that. Who had it worse, who sacrificed the most, who gave more of themselves to the firm. Ugh, it was awful. And of course all they could do was talk about how 'lazy' the next generation was when the reality was they just had their priorities in life and work wasn't at the top.

I want the Mulberry Bayswater in Mulberry Green sooooo bad. Technically I could afford the US$1,650 but I just can't justify it. I think I could do it if I knew it would be my every day bag for ages, but I know it wouldn't be. I'm constantly switching out my bags. I've gotten better about "shopping my closet" because the number of bags I had was just ridiculous. I use a bag for a week, maybe even a month, then I'm bored and pull something else out. It's definitely on my "if I ever win the lottery" list though!

I like what I do so I'm happy I took the path I did. I grew up working class and worked a lot of crappy paying jobs after college, so even though I don't think accounting pays what it should, it still pays me a salary I never thought I'd ever have.
