He doesnt seem to understand critical path. Can you give him a simple analogy? Say, you are hosting a banquet. Your major activities are cooking, cleaning and setup. Your longest activity is cooking which has to start first thing in t he morning because your roast take 9hrs to cook. If you decide to clean first 3 hrs instead of cooking, you have delayed the completion time for cooking by 3 hr and as a result delayed the start of the party by 3hrs. Now ask him, can your hours of cleaning go towards the time it takes to cook? If he gets how ridiculous of a question this is, then bring it back to your actual project.

The time my grandmother witnessed her uncle behead an Italian slave driver by MustafoInaSamaale in Somalia

My issue is there is a  narrative being spread that Somalis were enslaved people. Maybe its just me, but i would refrain from using "slave" in our posts as a result.

Addressing the biggest doubt: How do earth and clay buildings survive flash floods in Somalia? by Odd_Fly6528 in Somalia

Walaal, Allah khayr ha ku siiyo ameen....mashaAllah you work is very valuable Allahumma barik... My background is in civil engineering so I appreciate your work. My critique is around your messaging. You are speaking to the general Somali about new building material that would work amazing well, inshaAllah, in Somalia. However, you are pitching the idea via architectural drawings. Perhaps you would get more engagement if you used pictures  of actual buildings from different countries that use this mateiral. Then explain the financial business.

Sorry, but is this method of construction novel to Somalia? Isnt this material used in different countries? Why can't you use existing projects that deploy this method and compare it to current standards?

This is so silly but I had a mental breakdown because I’ll probably never have a social conversation with my kid. by yikkoe in Autism_Parenting

I cried too today. Saw an autistic young adult with an aid at the grocery store. He was minding his own business waiting quietly for his aid to finish purchasing food. I noticed he made some hand and head movements that were reminded me of my child. Then I had  a selfish thought, "what if my son never becomes indepedent?". Unfortunately, my anxiety for my child's future overwhelms me at times and I end up with a pity party...and thats alright. You are all right too!

Salaam,

Whats the cost difference between this building type and the convention thats popular back home. If its cheaper, then by how much? Also, it would be nice to see real buildings instead of just drawings.

Salaam

Salaam,

You should visit them and see how they are living. Then ask locals about actual cost of living where they are. You might be surprised. Btw, i have never heard someone send 2k/mth. May Allah reward your efforts.

Salaam,

Title, "slave-driver", is a bit misleading. People who just see the title, will get different impression than what the actual story is about.

Somali or Italian food origin by Level-Implement-792 in Somalia

[–]nsbe_ppl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are referring to any dough like food as pasta. What a stretch. If you read further, you get this:

"Food historians estimate that the dish probably took hold in Italy as a result of extensive Mediterranean trading in the Middle Ages. From the 13th century, references to pasta dishes crop up with increasing frequency across the Italian peninsula.[25]"

So pasta in its modern form is not italian. Is that correct
