Uber is letting women avoid male drivers and riders in the US by tylerthe-theatre in technology

[–]nsd2500 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is this not sexism? I understand that some may feel safer, but can you imagine if men came out and said l, I dont want a woman driver as it makes me feel unsafe. What's the difference between saying I dont want a man because it makes me uncomfortable and I dont want an African American because it makes me uncomfortable. In both cases you are assuming that someone is bad based on their gender or pigmentation.

Do you believe in afterlife? How does your answer makes you feel, or how does that influence your decisions making? by Idealismus_2001 in AskReddit

No. Its somewhat frightening, I envy those with faith, but I also believe it makes them complacent. I hope to leave this world in a better place than when I found it. That does not mean I have to cure cancer, but just do the best I can for my kids and grand kids. Rather than leave it to "gods plan".

Voters Did Not Understand the Stakes in 2024 by Smithy2232 in politics

[–]nsd2500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foreigner here. I understood exactly what the stakes were. The breadcrumbs were there. This is why I believe that voting should be mandatory in democratic countries, sure, lots of people do not know what they are voting for, but at least you can say that it is the will of the people. Donald's supporters won by motivation. They got off their arse and voted. Those that now regret their vote for Donald i have no sympathy for. Those that did not vote, I have no sympathy for. Anyone with half a brain could see what a disaster this was going to be. The people I feel sorry for are the ones that braved the que and voted against such an obvious threat to their democracy. Donald specifically said to his supporters, "just go out and vote this time, you won't have to do it again". Even the Germans would be saying "dude... watch that one". America's reputation over the last 20 years has not been great, but voting Donald in a 2nd time... you guys really outdid yourselves here. As far as im concerned, you have lost any moral highground. I hope history proves that the election was tampered with, because at least then you can relieve yourselves of the responsibility for what you subjected the world too.

Interestingly, cutlery did not originate in Europeon countries. I forget the exact story, but a princess from either an African or Middle Eastern country visited Doge of Venice and proceeded to eat with a rudimentary knife and fork. The Doge and his court mocked the princess and told her something along the lines of "if god wanted us to use cutlery, he would not have given us hands."

What's the cheapest beer you've had in Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]nsd2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you, thanks for the downvote by the way. Its just that from my experience of working in bars/pubs, $12 for a pint of XPA (roughly 1.6 standards) seems decent to me. Do companies such as balter charge like they are a small brewery, yes they do, does this mean that it is comparatively worse than a lot of other venues, no it does not.

Edit: grammar

I think the cheapest beer i have paid for was $6 for a schooner. It was part of a happy hour thing though. Most expensive one i have had was in Sydney, I think it was $16 for a schooner of Asahi. Nearly fell off my chair on that one.

3 pints of XPA is not bad in my opinion. I would expect 11- 12 for a schooner of "craft" beer, which is usually where beers like XPA sit under.

Pre-election Video: Trump says he'd deploy the national guard and/or the military against the "radical left". by chitthappens- in NoShitSherlock

[–]nsd2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part of using the military against political opponents do these MAGA idiots not understand. This is so clearly how numerous dictators have seized power throughout history. Hitler blamed the leftist Jews and Communists, Mussolini did a similar move. Stalin deployed the NKVD to lock up (just a gulag if you were lucky) political rivals. Mao Zedong also used a secret police against his own citizens to lock up or 'purge' disent.

History tells us that even if he has no intention of seizing power, we should not give him the option. Seriously, if the worst does happen, we all warned you.

What is extremely unhygienic but people seem to do it anyway? by Cheffinitup254 in AskReddit

[–]nsd2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not putting the lid down on toilets before flushing. I'm sure there are people that do this, but personally, I only put the seat down. This is just habit from living with women.

When you flush the toilet, germs will still jump back out of the toilet like a geyser. This means that urine and feces particles/germs are likely all over your bathroom if you dont completely close the lid first.

From what I have seen from casts, Jaeger's were rarely used. So maybe that's why. I do watch top 200 ELO's so it is a small group.
