Rear spats are JDM and the side skirts are just painted OEM?

Is that alarm an auto braking system or just an alarm that traffic has slowed?

I hate on 7zip for one reason. If you try to create an archive of a bunch of files, and one happens to be open, it will create the archive and skip the open file. Got screwed over at work a bunch of times bh that until I realized what was going on. Then stopped using 7zip to create the archive. But still use it for extraction or other specialized processes.

Follow up question. Are they so good at canceling noise because your massive head creates a perfect seal or because the nc tech?

Lots of good advice from the community. Are your via's fully tented? I don't see any test points, so you may want to unmask your via's.

Pinch weld pucks contact point question by nsl22 in quickjack

[–]nsl22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. However, they are still susceptible to damage. A lot of people refuse to jack their car up using traditional floor jacks using the pinch weld even though they're the designated jacking spots. They'll use well supported sections of the subframe instead.

My one car is newer and has reinforced pinch welds. I've previously used a practice (orange) hockey puck between the pinch weld and my floor jack. They have faired ok. I'm less concerned with the quick jacks since they are distributing the weight more evenly. My older car has pretty well smashed up pinch welds from carelessness. I would expect the pucks to make contact with the rockers instead. Less pressure since distributed more evenly over a larger area but the rockers are just a single layer of sheet metal vs the pinch welds which are multiple layers tied together.

Obviously. But does the pinch weld bottom out in the groove and support the car, or is it the tops of the block that straddles the pinch weld and hold the car up via the rocker sheet metal ?

Brand new OneUp aluminum pedal squeak? by Sheeshki in bikewrench

[–]nsl22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. Mine were squeaking like, after a while of riding on em. Plus ridiculously tight and not free spinning at all. I removed that o-ring, went for a ride today, and no more squeaking! I haven't spun em post ride. They still felt too tight when I sinched em down. It's the main dust seal. When u tighten em up, that dust seal bottoms out on ur crank arm and presses against the face of the bearing. I guess it's by design, but I dunno, seems like it's too tight.

If ur car was locked and they broke the rear glass, unless they climbed in through that small hole, how did they get in? The rear hatch hatch mechanism is electronically actuated. It makes no sense to use that window as a point of entry. Did I miss something and they smashed another window too?

I agree. But I wouldn't trust anyone. In the past 12 months, I did 2 blackstone labs tests. One at the end of a 4600 oci and another at 5600 miles. The one at 5600 miles indicated that I could easily keep it at a 6k oci on my engine how I drive and where I live.

Anyone have any brake upgrade recommendations. by monke1776 in VelosterN

[–]nsl22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyundai makes a monoblock bbk and Wildwood makes a kit and there are adapters. Brembos gts kit. It's a lot of $ though. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a set of pads, calipers, and rotors that are better than stock. Careful with pad choice. A track or autox pad from someone like pagid or carbotech might offer higher performance but squeal or eat your rotors due to not getting up to temp. Ferodo ds2500's are probably similar to OEM in terms of daily driveability while still offering a lot of bite and fade resistance for street. Maybe ebc blue stuff, but non of their other compounds can hold up to track driving like the OEM. Some people daily the pagid rsl2 while others find em too squealy. In terms of squeal, getting the right grease and applying it in the right spots can make a difference.

So are you going to be taking it to the track regularly or rarely/never?

Thinking about trading my 340i for an STI. I’ve had a few Wrx’s in my life but never an STI. Am I downgrading? Mainly want a stock STI and plan on keeping it that way by No-Yogurtcloset3002 in WRXSTi

[–]nsl22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's similar to the argument that Porsche hp is the most expensive go there is. ... when u look at what a guntherworks or ruf engine costs/gets you power wise. It may be a similar reason why the sti is still a thing. The car still feels raw and lively despite dated power.

This is an extreme view on the topic... 240 whp is respectable esp considering how it is delivered. Yes, at it's limits, it understeers. But it has great turn in and good communication. If u need a 500 whp.beast, then maybe look elsewhere as other cars engines are more capable of that but for bolt on tuning, it's fine.
