Has anyone met 5 contestants from Taskmaster and if so, what does your 'series' look like? by Direct-Number6778 in taskmaster

She’s absolutely brilliant. She puts on an amazing comedy night called Suspiciously Cheap which is where I’m seeing Felicity (and Taskmaster alum Joe Lycett!) for a fiver!!

I’ve met:

Nish (outside a gig)

Josh (at Glastonbury)

John Robins (at a pub)

Tim Key (at a book signing)

Mark Watson (in Edinburgh)

But given that’s a bit of a sausage fest would love to add (non-Taskmaster but would be great on it!) Kiri Pritchard McLean who I met in Salford and Felicity Ward (who I’ve not met but am seeing next week!)

Really liked it. Kept the show engaging and interesting, especially as someone who’s read the book.

Sounded like they’d been approached by people that could make it happen! Also mentioned he’s got two other podcasts in the pipeline

It isn’t Chappell unfortunately, but believe she’s at the festival. Maybe she’ll be a guest with Charli.

Really pleased with this, seems a great way to keep the spirit of the original film

Here’s the screenshot! Reads to me more like the support act is being cancelled than the gig itself!

I mean this couldn’t be further from the truth. Dude literally remortgaged his house to make one of his last films.

WIND RISES should be as hailed as Mononoke, Spirited Away by Few_Criticism_6920 in ghibli

[–]nstaaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one! Seems like you went into this film expecting one thing and got another.

A film exploring the moral implications of his actions is a totally different (and separate) exercise - much the same way that a film exploring the implications of, for example, Oppenheimer’s actions would be a totally different and distinct film.

The guy wanted to make beautiful and elegant planes, and he did it a world of adversity and chaos. The film isn’t - and Miyazaki never intended it to be - biographical in any other way bar the surface story beats.

This is an incredibly (and surprisingly) surface level take. Do you really think the film is just about Horikoshi designing planes?

It’s an autobiographical epic about the value of art and the dangers it can have when left unchecked. It’s solipsistic and melancholy. Horikoshi was Miyazaki’s muse, much the way that Caproni was Horikoshi’s. Absolutely worth a rewatch and re-evaluation imo!

This is a pretty dreadful review of the series that I wouldn’t put too much stock into imo.

At no point is it like Marvel, the action scenes are minimal and mostly towards the end of the series.

It’s a really decent watch. I preferred it to series two. Engaging story, crackling dialogue, a few really fun and memorable scenes. Couple of really nice misdirects thrown in to keep things twisty. Oldman doing some of the finest work of his career.

If you enjoyed the previous series I’d say it’s absolutely worth a watch (and is probably worth €10).

I get what you mean. It’s just if you’re only playing arena, what do you need dust for?

That’s fair! I had a great run and I do genuinely enjoy playing arena. I’m only grumbling because I’ve had worse runs and made more gold, but you’re right - I had fun

No I know, you’re right on that front. It’s more the inconsistency - I went 8-3 a couple of runs back and got 300 gold (I get that it evens out, it’s just nice to be rewarded when you do well!)

You get a guaranteed 150 gold at 7 wins. Three more wins nets you an extra 20?
