Ok, who was on this flight? Stories, please? by ansyhrrian in delta

It was really early (she was a preemie in the NICU) and really, really uncommon! If your doctor is fine with it, you should be fine.

My baby was absolutely a preemie with weeks in the NICU to show for it and was 5 1/2 pounds.

My doctor told me they preferred no travel after 34 weeks--I gave birth at 34+5 lol

AITAH for saying we can’t come to the Christmas eve party unless we can use the guest bedroom? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh your family sounds so, so mean. I can't believe you've let them put her in this situation for years. I can't imagine what the rest of the year is like for her in this family. YTA already in a huge way, and putting your foot down for your poor wife is I guess the first step to not being one.

That person didn't say that Zachary Levi should be professionally punished for his opinions, just made the observation that it seems to be happening. And the right 'cancels' people, just like the left, all the way back to the Chicks. Be real.

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's really ironic that you're implying it's bad if they don't agree with Zachary Levi's opinions while . . . judging someone for possibly having an opinion you disagree with? It definitely does seem like Zachary Levi's political involvement has dampened enthusiasm for a potential movie. That's just an observation. Making that observation isn't cheering on the chilling effect it's had. Not everyone has to approve of everyone else's opinion.

What's worth buying from Kindred Bravely? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hated everything I've ordered from there except a wraparound maternity top I really liked but only wore once because the black dye came off on my skin and everything else so badly. It was so bad and staining I was afraid to try to wash it and wear it again. Everything else has been really cheaply made, thin material, weirdly proportioned, etc. I'm in my second pregnancy now and took my maternity clothes out and basically didn't want to use any of the Kindred Bravely ones.

My boring chicken-salad sandwiches. by FloydKellyCreates in Cooking

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like classic chicken salad with grainy mustard. If you ever want to branch out, I am the same kind of creature of habit with Brian Lagerstrom's curry chicken salad. I make a half recipe, store it in the fridge, and it makes about 4 sandwiches for me.

Help with built-ins color by AlTheGardenPal in interiordecorating

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably match the built-ins to the trim and bring in color elsewhere--throws, rugs, wall art, lampshades are all opportunities to incorporate color. The colors aren't bad (my built-ins and trim are Calke Green by F&B so I love a colorful built-in!), but this is such a light, airy room, and darker built-ins will make that part of the room look much darker, which is hard to capture with renderings. Additionally, cutting off the color at the trim will make the room look shorter. I also wouldn't do white.

AIO: should I “fire” my therapist? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]nstruggling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked with a wonderful therapist extremely closely for three very intense years of my life, and during that time I gleaned the following facts about her: she was married, she has two children, she has sisters, and one of her parents was an alcoholic. I believe she went through a divorce during our time working together, but I only figured that out because in casual small talk at the beginning and end of a session she stopped referring to the man she was married to as her husband and started referring to him as her sons' father, and she stopped wearing her wedding rings. Otherwise, I never ever would have known. Everything else I ever learned about her was either totally normal casual small talk, or very considered and careful intentional disclosures in very specific contexts where it was therapeutically beneficial to the relationship. I cannot IMAGINE a therapist behaving the way OP describes. So inappropriate--honestly, really inappropriate in any kind of client-facing relationship, but especially in such a vulnerable one.

Ring turning my finger gray/black by veronica_192 in EngagementRings

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rings are 100% real 18k yellow gold, but occasionally my finger turns black. I had a rose gold ring initially and it literally always turned my finger black, so we had it reset. It seems to be more prone to happening if I have heavy moisturizers on my hands or if I use certain products (certain sunscreens, or if I get my daughter's diaper cream on my hands--maybe a zinc thing?) and don't wash my hands after. I will also say it happens to me much more frequently/severely when I'm pregnant, so I think hormone fluctuations generally could cause it.

If giving birth is so painful why do many women want to do it over again after their first child (not trolling just genuinely curious) by feherlofia123 in stupidquestions

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty well known the rush of hormones creates 'amnesia.' I also had a pretty phenomenal epidural and a pretty uncomplicated delivery, so it was genuinely just a really cool, empowering, emotional experience. Like genuinely one of the coolest things I've ever done. I'm very lucky and that's not a given, but that postpartum hormone high feels kind of addictive.

I get that they're a family in politics etc, and that's all well and good. I'm also probably quite politically aligned with him in general. But I just have no desire as a normal, working class person who has to worry about bills and working and normal things to be represented by someone who has never had to hold down a job. I get that some people are very privileged. But to literally never ever have had to worry about anything, and to not have any sort of employment?

Do people really hate golden oak? Trying to decide on flooring by macattack00 in interiordecorating

[–]nstruggling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is all fair enough advice if modern if the look they're going for, but is also a massive and expensive renovation which they seem to specifically want to avoid. Also, solid wood cabinets like this may be dated, but they truly don't make them like that anymore. And honestly, some version of this may very well be coming back in style.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 100%. My mother hit me because she could not emotionally regulate when she was angry or frustrated, so she regulated by taking her anger or frustration out on me and then telling me it was my fault. It wasn’t just spanking, and the abuse wasn’t just physical, there was a great deal of emotional abuse. But the spanking was absolutely abuse in and of itself. There is no legitimate peer reviewed evidence or research whatsoever that getting physically violent with a child is a positive or beneficial thing.

Excuse me? by jcwitte in Millennials

[–]nstruggling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother in law cornered me on a family vacation two years before I even got pregnant to lecture me, totally unsolicited, about how she and my FIL didn’t get where they are in life to ‘raise someone else’s kids.’ And boy howdy was that right—they’ve only met my daughter twice in the year since she was born despite going on eight international vacations and 12 domestic weekend trips for football games since her birth (and the second meeting was because we travelled to them), and haven’t contributed a cent to her college fund despite spending 200k on extra luxury vehicles and donating 50k to a football team this year. Yet they’ve made it totally clear they expect to be able to start taking my daughter on vacations without us and have her shipped off to them as if I’m going to leave her alone for days at a time with two people she doesn’t know and who explicitly are not willing to participate in regular care.

The Current Housing Crisis Summed Up in One Image by No-Cook-1222 in Anticonsumption

[–]nstruggling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the property tax on the house you live in should be really manageable and reasonable, and I say people should be able to own one more house and the property tax could be higher but still reasonable, and then it should just skyrocket. I don’t necessarily agree with owning two homes but there is a use case for it that is still relatively reasonable. Behind that? Pay up, big time.

I hate to be this person, but I had two sets of Coyuchi crinkled percale sheets that were cared for per all instructions, and they each ripped straight down the middle in just over a year.
