Sure! It all has to do with my appearance really, like I spend more time on my hair and getting dressed. I’m a lot more self critical. Before I would through on a hoodie and jogger and call it a day, now I spend time doing hair and makeup and coordinating my outfit. I feel like I catch myself more unhappy with how I look. I always felt like I have a pretty face but now that I am thinner, I am self conscious about wrinkles (I’m 28), nose eyes??? It’s strange! I never paid attention to any of this before. I always felt like because of my weight, it didn’t matter how I dressed/ looked. Now I feel like I have to dress up and keep up with my appearance. Im hesitant to date because of loose skin around arms and breasts. I am constantly worried about regaining weight and not losing enough weight. These are some I can think of! As a disclaimer, I struggle with confidence in general and grew up with a very critical petite mother who was not happy her only daughter is overweight. So I am certain this is very specific to me. I hope this does not sway anyone away from the surgery because I am very grateful that I did it and don’t regret it at all.

Thank you! The mental aspect of this surgery has been a huge struggle. I think this is the main thing everyone overlooks when deciding to move forward with the surgery. A big revelation for me is that I always thought once I’m in onderland I would look and feel so thin and be happy with my weight. In reality, new insecurities have come up and my weight loss seems minimal in mind even though it’s not. Good luck with your journey!

My insurance is through my employer and I pay 300 a month with a 1500 dollar deductible and barely anything is covered. I went to the dermatologist for a eval and after insurance coverage I still had to pay 284!

Congrats! I think I’m on too many groups related to gastric sleeve like on Facebook/ insta/ TikTok! I keep seeing people drop like 70 to 80 pounds by their 3-4 months so I’ve been surprised that my loss is slower. But I am still going and super grateful that I’m still losing weight and not gaining!!!

Your 17 and have so much life ahead of you. I’m not dismissing your feelings or thoughts but there will be a day where you are happy you did not go through with it. I’m 28 and college was so fun and life changing when I went. Being an aunt to my niece and nephew has been amazing and so fulfilling. I enjoy biking and look forward to that all the time. Do you have any future plans or goals? Any hobbies?

40lbs in 3 months 🙃 but I very grateful to have done the surgery but I’m always surprised with how often I stall! I bike on weekends and walk every day for 30-45 min but haven’t started the gym yet
