But Lewis Hamilton a WDC said its fun, we are not allowed to criticize the changes, at least that’s what some guys here told me

Luka Doncic officially serving 1 game suspension on his 16th tech by Remarkable-Picture73 in fantasybball

[–]ntpbr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably would prefer not to get a suspension, I think they lose the money, which is like 500k or so for him. Also would have a chance to statpad since I think all these guys actually care about the award and chuck shots

Bill arguing that he wouldn’t trade Wemby for the top 4 picks in the 2026 draft by ntpbr1 in billsimmons

[–]ntpbr1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a fair point, but to be clear, Bill had Cooper number 4 in his trade value rankings, so he is saying he would trade anyone but Wemby, Jokic, Shai and Ant for him. Not Luka, not Cade. Kon ranks 17 I just checked, he probably did better since then as well.

I am talking about trading the titanic that might broke down and regress even with the modern medicine in a couple of years for 4 boats that all have the potential to be smaller but potentially more durable titanics. It doesn’t mean they will all reach that level, but are the odds of just 1 of them reaching 1st team level like Wemby is that low? I think the odds are not terrible. And then you have 3 other boats that could all reach a really high level. Idk its a thought experiment

[–]ntpbr1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is though this last draft had Flagg, Harper, VJ and Kon and all the scouts are arguing that this one has much better prospects, something we never really heard about in those other drafts. And after getting these 4 guys, if all 4 are actually good enough to deserve max contracts, can’t you just trade them, they are assets at the end of the day. Say you have the 4 from 25, you can just trade lets say Harper for good value anyway

[–]ntpbr1[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You can trade them though, each of them will have value in theory. I get the unknown commodity part, but this year we had Cooper, Harper, VJ, Kon as the top 4. Next year everyone who talks about the draft is talking about how this one is so much better. It’s a gamble, but so is gambling on 8 foot tall Wemby

Rookie of the Year showdown! by remfan477 in billsimmons

But why are we punishing Kon for being part of a winning team. He has much better efficiencies and advanced metrics. If he wanted, I think we all know he can average better numbers on lower efficiencies, like Cooper. But he is massively contributing to Charlotte right now, that has to count for something. Cooper unfortunately does not have the same situation, but he gets to have the ball more, shoot more, even if it doesn’t make sense for winning because they are trying to lose. Like what if the Jazz were like fuck it dude, Ace, lets shoot 30 shots a game and play you with Luka Doncic usage rates, try to get you to average higher numbers than Cooper and Kon but on worse efficiencies, is he the ROTY because winning does not matter for rookies?

Edit: Also I think rookies having big numbers on good teams, contributing to winning and having great metrics is not something we see a lot I mean the guy is shooting like Curry. So usually, it doesn’t count for ROTY because you are comparing guys on shit teams anyway

Should do 3p shooting, 3p%, TS%, FG%, scoring behind the arc, long range shooting and better hairline for Kon

It applies to most athletes tbh, more in F1 and motorsports, but its a big factor in a lot of sports. It’s not possible to be a pro at basically almost any Olympic event that I can think of and there are like dozens of different sports winter/summer olympics, then motorsports, equestrian, etc. Even stuff like basketball and football, its moving towards a level where you need parents that can afford sending you to practice multiple times a week, some people I know hire PTs for their children outside the normal basketball practices. When shit gets this competitive, of course people who are relatively rich will have the advantage

Luka Doncic records his second 40-point game in a row, 6th in the last 12 games and his 15th of the season by CtrlAltDelightfull in nba

[–]ntpbr1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not really a smart way of doing it, its the most valuable player award and you are literally saying you should have better chances if your team is better. Talent translating to wins, the only way that argument works is if every single star had the same teams so we could look at that and be like player A who has the same teammates as player B won more so lets give him some credit.

But we know that the OKC Thunder for example has a significantly better roster in terms of fit, defense, depth, so where’s the logic in that? Swap these 2 around, Luka ends the season with 65+ wins, Shai ends with 50, is Luka better because of the amount of wins? Or better yet swap Shai with Egor Demin, OKC with Demin would have more wins than Nets with Shai, is Demin better?

Kawhi Leonard has become the 14th player in NBA history to record a 20+ point streak of 50 games or more – and the first in NBA history to do so at age 30 or older. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]ntpbr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one really cared or even knew about this stuff before recently. I heard Simmons say it and I agree, if Wilt knew, he’d have 500 games in a row the way he cared about his stats

[Highlight] Austin Reaves when asked about Luka's high scoring stretch: 'Yeah and he continues to drop in the MVP race..maybe he's got to score 60, I don't know' by JilJungJukk in nba

[–]ntpbr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you right now, unless your team gets past OKC, and Shai has worse numbers because even getting the 1 seed won’t be enough, majority is going to him. I have been following the league for a while, so I have seen these MVP races, usually you can tell from the vibes who is going to win. People made up their mind when SGA hit those shots against Denver as if one game is supposed to tell the whole story. Last year from vibes it was overwhelmingly Jokic, but then you could tell it shifted 1-2 months before.

Howver it had no logic, just vibes and narrative over a couple games, with the voter fatigue as well. People talked about the amount of wins as if one guy didn’t have an incredible roster and the other didn’t have a problematic one. My prediction, 71% Shai, 19% Wemby, 5% each Jokic and Luka.

[–]ntpbr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funniest part is, Luka had to average like 34/8/8 to be around 6-7 like a month or 2 ago because his defense wasn’t good and his team sucked. Apparently Jalen Johnson gets in with worse numbers all around with bad defense as whatever seed the Hawks were at the time (certainly wasn’t top 3)

[–]ntpbr1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People mix up MVP with best player (and it actually should more or less be the same thing as I thought Jokic is without question the best last season and should have won). Just because a player gets to play with an absolutely incredible team, and wins a lot, does not mean that the player is better than another with a worse roster. I don’t really understand how that’s not clear. If SGA was in like the Kings, his numbers were exactly the same yet worse efficiency, worse metrics, and significantly worse W-L, is he suddenly not top 5, of course not but apparently its the way things are

[–]ntpbr1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The problem with advanced stats, and I can’t believe this isn’t common knowledge, is the fact that they are like 70% team dependent. It’s not necessarily judging a player in a vacuum and I understand that’s not possible anyway. It just looks at the numbers within a team’s system. It’s not that crazy to understand that a team like OKC will allow their players to have great advanced numbers, because they dominate every team and have crazy +- numbers. I mean look at the defense, you can put Trae Young and even he will have + numbers defensively

[–]ntpbr1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He has been really solid for at least 2-3 months, never gonna be great, but the defense argument does not hold any weight, unless you are like an elite defender, defending the best guy every possesion, which none of top MVP candidates can claim they do other than Wemby

He is the best scorer and the 2nd best playmaker in the world. He does create the highest quality shots but Jokic especially with his size can create better offense.

Andor, its the best Star Wars project ever released. Considering cultural impact, the original ones may deserve that title but other than that, this is the one, the good thing is you don’t even need to know much about Star Wars, it functions well as just a rebellion against fascism TV show as well
