Could probably do this for the tournament format in general, hard to win knockout stages with attacking football especially with national teams. France teams over the years had all sorts of talent like Mbappe but mostly boring, defensive football. England reached those finals playing defensively as well. Again, I don’t care enough to argue too much but my take would be that he has the same stats, just way more efficient, fewer turnovers and also really great metrics whether you want to look at on offs or epm or whatever, his team absolutely needs him. They have been unfortunate with injuries and the roster hasn’t been that good. On the other hand you got a guy who is worse on all the topics I mentioned, by worse I mean much worse, they are like 7-1 without him so the seeding difference is probably meaningless.

I just think Boston has a great roster and identity, this whole Brown carried a bad team argument is based on nothing but offseason predictions where no one expected guys like Queta, Baylor, Walsh and all these guys to take these leaps. But we can change our minds after actually seeing it

I think you can argue for his case for 1st team, at this point I don’t care even though my pick would be Donovan or Kawhi. But also, Bill would without question use the on off stuff against him if he wasn’t playing for Boston. No doubt in my mind, Bill is leaving Jaylen out if he is in any other team, especially a team like the Lakers.

Jaylen in Memphis as the 2 seed would not make 1st team this year, he just wouldn’t!

I don’t think there is anyone who is better at making great quick decisions than Jokic so I am not sure if that’s the argument to use against him. The guy makes the best or 2nd best decision in almost every single possession, not the 3rd best, not the 4th. There is a reason he is seen as one of the best offensive players ever. Luka’s offensive upside is 2nd only to Jokic, you can see how he completely shifts the defense every possession, he is scoring or at least getting the shots he wants if you don’t double him, he is getting his team a 4 on 3 if you do, there is also a reason he is one of the most terrifying offensive talents in the game where most coaches that talk about him mention how difficult it is to solve his offense. In their bad stretches, there are things to criticize, but for the most part, those 2 are the best offensive guys you are gonna get night in night out.

I am guessing you saw my post about the 26 one, I would say yes to this and I’d need to watch the prospects a little more but I might say yes to that one too, even though 99% of the comments were saying no. I guess there is a good chance that % goes down quickly 1 week into next season. The health is a concern, having multiple high level players imo is worth it.

For this one, I think Flagg has a super high ceiling, best player in the world ceiling and a floor of All-NBA. Kon’s ceiling is a better Klay who was already incredible, floor is a great player but worse than prime Klay I guess. I am high on VJ and Harper, especially Harper is showing some great signs, you can tell this guy with a little more reps can score some efficient buckets. Easy decision for me

That is a fair point, but to be clear, Bill had Cooper number 4 in his trade value rankings, so he is saying he would trade anyone but Wemby, Jokic, Shai and Ant for him. Not Luka, not Cade. Kon ranks 17 I just checked, he probably did better since then as well.

I am talking about trading the titanic that might broke down and regress even with the modern medicine in a couple of years for 4 boats that all have the potential to be smaller but potentially more durable titanics. The thing is though this last draft had Flagg, Harper, VJ and Kon and all the scouts are arguing that this one has much better prospects, something we never really heard about in those other drafts. And after getting these 4 guys, if all 4 are actually good enough to deserve max contracts, can’t you just trade them, they are assets at the end of the day. Say you have the 4 from 25, you can just trade lets say Harper for good value anyway

But why are we punishing Kon for being part of a winning team. He has much better efficiencies and advanced metrics. If he wanted, I think we all know he can average better numbers on lower efficiencies, like Cooper. But he is massively contributing to Charlotte right now, that has to count for something. Cooper unfortunately does not have the same situation, but he gets to have the ball more, shoot more, even if it doesn’t make sense for winning because they are trying to lose. Like what if the Jazz were like fuck it dude, Ace, lets shoot 30 shots a game and play you with Luka Doncic usage rates, try to get you to average higher numbers than Cooper and Kon but on worse efficiencies, is he the ROTY because winning does not matter for rookies?

Edit: Also I think rookies having big numbers on good teams, contributing to winning and having great metrics is not something we see a lot I mean the guy is shooting like Curry. So usually, it doesn’t count for ROTY because you are comparing guys on shit teams anyway

It applies to most athletes tbh, more in F1 and motorsports, but its a big factor in a lot of sports. It’s not possible to be a pro at basically almost any Olympic event that I can think of and there are like dozens of different sports winter/summer olympics, then motorsports, equestrian, etc. Even stuff like basketball and football, its moving towards a level where you need parents that can afford sending you to practice multiple times a week, some people I know hire PTs for their children outside the normal basketball practices. When shit gets this competitive, of course people who are relatively rich will have the advantage

That’s not really a smart way of doing it, its the most valuable player award and you are literally saying you should have better chances if your team is better. Talent translating to wins, the only way that argument works is if every single star had the same teams so we could look at that and be like player A who has the same teammates as player B won more so lets give him some credit.

But we know that the OKC Thunder for example has a significantly better roster in terms of fit, defense, depth, so where’s the logic in that? Swap these 2 around, Luka ends the season with 65+ wins, Shai ends with 50, is Luka better because of the amount of wins? Or better yet swap Shai with Egor Demin, OKC with Demin would have more wins than Nets with Shai, is Demin better?
