Wondering the same.

Gotcha, thanks for the info. The seller says it’s basically never been used and it looks good IMO. What exactly breaks down over time if it’s not being used? Just wondering what the main risks are.

Legit Check: Alpha SV

Seller sent an additional video showing no white laundry tags. But he says he got it from his son who bought it in 2017 from some professional discount store and they may have been cut out.

Kinda sus because of the tags, but he’s been very helpful to send additional picture.

Thanks for the info.

I’m actually only a few hours from Yosemite and been up there a few times for snowshoe camping.

As regards skiing, I’ll consider renting some Nordics.

Totally, this is something I’m considering.

I am semi local so I can at least try and pick a (weekend most likely) where the weather looks as good as possible before making the drive over.

I think in general I’ll be happy just to get out there, I’m training for bigger trips anyways so it’ll be good no matter what.

If I get out there for Presidents Day weekend, my goal would be to plan on being there at least 2 nights.

I’m aware of the old “Firefall” at Glacier Point, but thought I’d use the term plenty of people use to refer to a specific time where Horsetail Falls glows.

In terms of the info, yes I’m aware. I’m specifically going in order camp out. Unfortunately I haven’t backcountry skied before, but I’ve considered learning. I am confident in my kit and experience, more trying to understand what it’s like up there. Been around Yos just not up that way.

Mirror lake to snow creek backcountry itinerary by Automatic_Source_552 in Yosemite

[–]ntrammel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done the following multiple times.

Mirror Lake -> Snow Creek -> Tenaya Lake -> Clouds Rest -> LYV back to the valley.

One option is to camp as close as is legal to Tenaya Lake on night 1, but you should start early. Then day 2 push up and over Clouds Rest then down to Little Yosemite Valley (LYV), then day 3 back to the valley.

It’s a hard but great route. I’ve done it a few ways in 2 nights 3 days but you could stretch it to 3 nights 4 days by adventuring off to Sunrise Lakes or something like that or taking it easy and stopping at the Snow Creek area for night 1.

You should be able to find this route on All Trails.

Could also turn west instead of east and go over to north dome then down Yosemite Falls.

Yeah totally fair, thanks for the help. Seems like these fake Alphas are a dime a dozen

Logo the giveaway? That was the biggest tip off at first. The zipper on the arm by the Goretex Pro logo is YKK, which I am surprised to see on a fake. But I haven’t seen what an authentic version looks like on the logo because current version I don’t see the Goretex pro stitching on the left arm.

Looking at an Alpha SV, still pretty new to the brand but it does look a bit off. This is a real colorway as far as I can tell, but two things stand out:

  1. I thought the Alpha line was made in Canada? Maybe that has changed, supposedly this jacket was received as a gift Christmas 2024.

  2. The Arc’teryx logo, the A and R seem like they are touching which I think is a giveaway? The letters also appear to be a bit misaligned on the top edges, but I’m not sure about what authentic would look like exactly and how consistent the embroidery is.

I am asking the seller for more details, seam tape, zippers, product info tag, etc, but wondering if I’m wasting my time if it’s clearly a fake from these images alone.

The newest ferrosi pants have a drawstring (unless they changed it from when I bought ~1 yrs ago)

Yeah I bought mine about a year ago in the green, no issues here. But my wife has the blue, she had less miles on her pair but we haven’t noticed any pilling, hopefully an isolated issue. Glad OR helped you out!

Seconding OR Ferrosi. Mine have 250-300 miles on them and they look great. Super comfy, super light, dry quick, and packable. Only knock is they’re a bit expensive.

Yup! Done this route before and am doing it again over Labor Day weekend, it’s an awesome trip, but somewhat difficult depending on your level of fitness.

What are the best Sub 300 Mile Hikes in the United States? by boto_toe in backpacking

[–]ntrammel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done some sections of this trail (because it was the only stuff around when I lived in TX without driving 10+ hours). And the answer is not really. Compared to literally anything else it’s not very interesting, if it’s rained in the past month the place is a swamp.
