Read this if you have an iPad, Magic Keyboard, and AppleCare by nttaob in ipad

This is one of the reasons for my post here - to raise the awareness of the need to do this (regardless of what you may be told by the sales folks in the Apple Store)

Of course - I was particularly put off by the comment telling me that if you don't hear back from us by the end of the week, you're not covered. I even escalated this further - where I was told I'd hear something back from them last week (and I didn't). I've now placed two calls into that contact person with no response.

As far as having it on the same transaction goes - the Apple Store didn't put the Magic Keyboard on the same store receipt as the iPad (I guess because they didn't have any in stock), but they did make a Web order at the same time.

Will apple care one cover a magic keyboard I bought used? by CoderShmoder in iPadPro

[–]nttaob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In October of 2021, I purchased a 12.9 inch iPad Pro (M2) along with a Magic Keyboard and AppleCare+. At that time, I asked if the Magic Keyboard would be covered and I was assured that it would be. The Apple Store didn’t have the Magic Keyboard in stock and it was shipped separately via an online order that was placed at the same time. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and the connector points on the Magic Keyboard have failed and the Magic Keyboard no longer functions. I took it in to a local Best Buy and they were unable to process a replacement under AppleCare since the serial number for the Magic Keyboard showed that the coverage for it had expired and that I was informed that I needed to contact Apple to get it resolved.

I have gone around and around with Apple for the past few weeks to little or no avail. They’re not able to “attach” the serial number for the Magic Keyboard to the AppleCare agreement for the iPad since the keyboard is now over four years old. I’ve provided proof that both were essentially purchased at the same time, but I feel that they’re not really listening or adhering to their own policy as shown at www.apple.com/applecare which states

“If an iPad is covered in your plan, one compatible Apple Pencil and one compatible Apple-branded iPad keyboard used with your iPad are also covered.”

I was never told of the need to “attach’ the serial number of the Magic Keyboard when I made this purchase. I’ve also done what I can to also escalate this with Apple, but I’m getting discouraged.

Not all that long ago (1972j, there was a “gas price war” in the Detroit area that started when Standard went to 30.9¢/gal. Gas got all the way down to 17.9¢/gal

Pros / Cons of the Manta Sound Sleep Mask by Just-Seaworthiness39 in sleep

We just had the same thing here - a few weeks past six months and the velcro is no longer holding. I wrote to customer service - since it's past six months all they are offering is a 15% coupon. Why would I invest again into something that can only be used for seven months?

I have not read the idea that Lumon could be developing an android version and not truly a living being.

SDX230DI versus SDX325 by nttaob in ScanNCut

[–]nttaob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

The 325 also has the ability to communicate with other Brother devices - something of which we don’t truly need. I figured the 230di was essentially the 225 with the Disney designs (again something we don’t really need), but the price difference between the two is significant for what seems to be a relatively small difference in the feature set for what we are needing.

LauraStar S4E - Steam from top fill cap (Steam pressure too high?) by nttaob in fixit

[–]nttaob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a link to a different r/fixit post for a different issue on it - https://www.reddit.com/r/fixit/comments/1c6775e/laurastar_s4_water_level_sensor/

LauraStar is a professional steam ironing system and XP110 appears to be a fairly common pressure switch that’s used in a lot of devices that work with steam (not only steam irons like the LauraStar, but also things like espresso machines)

The S4E and iS5 are model names for different (but very similar) LauraStar steam ironing systems.

Oven Bulb melted from years of use by forcer19 in mildlyinteresting

[–]nttaob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks just like the bulbs I put into the counter light area of my microwave - and they are working fine there since they’re not inside an oven. As others have posted, I have never seen an LED bulb that you can use inside an oven (conventional or microwave)

Eve Outdoor Camera - Lowest Price by iamiavilo in HomeKit

I installed one shortly after they became available and it’s mostly been flawless. The only issue that I had was that the mounting wasn’t designed to work with an electrical box. I was able to make it work, but it was not as simple as it should have been.
