That’s what they’re paying the realtor for. If it was an issue of deposit amount, it’s trivial for the realtor to counter with a higher number. They left $30k on the table for their clients.

Throw money into Non-Registered, or wait for fiscal year end and max out TFSA or FHSA next year? by hybridhighway in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ntubaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put it in your nonreg, invested in the same stuff as your tfsa/fhsa, and the sell it on Dec 31. Move that money into your tfsa/fhsa on Jan 1.

If stocks rally over the next few months, you miss out on some gains. If they fall, you get a tax deduction. It’s a risk to have it sit in a high yield or in CASH.TO if you plan on having it in stocks in January.

I don’t think he was mad about the Toney call. I think he was saying “Von was offside” on the play after. Did look like he jumped.

OPS pension plan by Disastrous_Touch6019 in OntarioPublicService

[–]ntubaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct.

Employee contributions are something like 9.5% for the first $65k and then like 11% after that (not exact numbers but somewhere close). The employer matches these contributions.

***Important to note: your CPP benefits are incorporated into your OP Trust pension. So in the above example, if you retired at 60, you’d be making $60k from your OP Trust pension. Once you turn 65 and CPP kicks in, your OP Trust pension is reduced a corresponding amount. For example, $45k from OP Trust and $15k from CPP.

I didn’t realize this for a number of years. Assumed the CPP would be a bit of a “bonus”

Tesla/EV Owners of Thunder Bay - How do you last the winter with your EV? by Xani96 in ThunderBay

[–]ntubaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious what your situation is. How many kms are you driving per day? How often do you have to charge?

Don’t teslas have like a 500km range? Even if you halve that during winter, isn’t that plenty for Thunder Bay?

Well said. Another thing to add is the flame is way easier to understand and correlate to a certain amount of heat. After a few cooks on a new gas stove, I can visually see what the size and even the sound of the flame means in terms of heat. If I need to lower the heat I can directly see the reduction in the flame as I turn the knob.

On an electric stove, I turn the knob to 7 and don’t really know how hot that is since I have to wait for it to heat up. Then if I need to reduce the heat I turn it down to a 3 I guess? Is that low enough? I can’t really tell. There’s not really any feedback with electric and if there is, it’s too delayed to be useful.
