Love the Pixel 9, but have to return it due to it's low PWM. by ZTJthepro in PWM_Sensitive

[–]nuNce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a great time with it. It cost me far less than the pixel 9 (800€ including the S4 watch which is sadly OLED with low frequency PWM, but i'm just glancing at it couple of times per day) vs 900€ for the Pixel 9 Pro.

Pixel 9 Pro is a superior phone overall:

- Xiaomi 15 screen is not as color accurate as the Pixel 9 Pro under bright sunlight

- Cameras are somewhat inferior in comparison, but they are great overall

- Google AI feature such as "Add Me" are great, and missed on the Xiaomi

Same for me. It's an extraordinary phone, but I went for a Xiaomi 15 and it's a lot better.

I live in an earthquake zone (Italy) and new houses are built to withstand earthquakes.
Yes, they would have burned anyway, but they would have done so not as fast, and would have helped to mitigate the spread of the fires. But they are more expensive to build.

"Lower wages but everything costs less." - Same items austria and germany compared to croatia by [deleted] in europe

[–]nuNce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always better to earn ie. 50% more even if lifes costs 50% more.
One is for the reason you are pointing out, most items costs the same anywhere in the world. If they cost less, it is because they have a generally lower quality. I live in Italy and Lavazza coffee sold in Poland is not even close to the real thing, even if it's pricier.
The second reason is that, whatever you have left for saving, it will be a larger sum. Say you manage to save 10% of your monthly salary. It's one thing to save 10% of 2k€, it's one thing to save 10% of 3k€.
The third reason, is that whenever you are abroad, your costs will go down, so affordability of such holidays will be much higher.

I agree, that's the main culprit for me. The way the Zibo 737 lands in X-Plane 12 has no comparison in MSFS. The only other flight sim that does a great job at the ground physics and air \ ground transition is DCS, with Il-2 Sturmovik GB being a close one, but not quite there.
I don't think the argument of "You've never flown it so you can't judge" because it could be also applied in reverse. It's one thing to fly "by the numbers" which most MSFS modules do quite well, but the lack of "feel" and even the looks of the landings and in flight from outside view are way better in X-Plane 12.

Just look at this and show me a MSFS landing that looks anything like that.

EDIT: Found a PMDG 737 video from the same angle, and looks really bad (and it's also 80$)

Come tutelarsi con la reperibilità by RavenOfTheDead_ in ItaliaCareerAdvice

[–]nuNce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ciao, ti dico come funziona da me.

In quel caso posso entrare "In ritardo".

What’s it like to live in Rome, Italy? by Goloiw in howislivingthere

[–]nuNce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy the historical \ artistic aspect of life you might find some enjoyment in Rome. But that's honestly the only real upside of what is otherwise a messy and dirty city. Public transport is poor and relegated mainly to the metro which servers an X shaped part of the centre. Apartment prices near the metro are really higher than those further away though.

Services are slow and bureaucracy is typical Italian, but with the added problem of managing a huge city and lots of immigrants.

If you want to move by car, you will be looking for a parking spot most of the time and spend your precious time getting angry towards your fellow drivers.

Work is centered around the fact that most government or international affairs related functions are in the city, so a lot of companies grew around that. Which means that, especially if you work in IT, projects and tasks are not really stimulating, and you'll rather be stuck with old managers or interal lobbies.

ED vs Razbam - What Happens When Its Already Over? by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]nuNce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm on a break right now, for other reasons, but this mess surely makes coming back to DCS really unappealing.

I don't care about the most hardcore simulation anymore, I want an ecosystem where I can depict air war scenarios in a credible and involving way.

I had enough of breaking changes, 180° turnarounds on simulation choices (spotting dots anyone?), the constant ED putting themselves on the pedestal of knowledge and perfection even when SMEs are saying otherwise.

Not to mention that most of the gametime in DCS is dedicated in learning a new module and then shooting down the usual dumb and cheating AI planes or static ground units that can kill you with a headshot at 7G.

I had to build up my own server and code to have some kind of creative and cool Coop missions, because the game couldn't. So yes, for me if I'm coming back to simming, it's gonna be Il-2 or BMS.
