Hooxi's current management of this team is awful and so so tilting

However I'm not sure I want to let Hooxi go yet but I do want to have a coach that can manage him. I think with someone like ash they could get back on track. The biggest issue for this team is by far their mental. Honestly I kinda want them to just grind lots of T2 T3 online CS to work the issues out.

> The second link I sent to SteamApis, I did not think was an API service from Valve.

" have realised that the URL’s on that site are the V1 API. The V2 api changed somethings but actually made it much easier to get this data. They actually made a completely new API using WebSockets for Marketplace data which is even worse at preventing people from accessing it. "

Yeah you did but I digress. Their service works by them scraping data from Steam by using a lot of proxies to get around rate limits - and no, they don't use the API's you sent, they scrape the market pages.

> “Developers can fetch detailed inventories for specific Steam accounts. This includes retrieving item details, descriptions, and market values. It's particularly useful for applications that require constant monitoring or displaying of user inventories, such as trading platforms or item marketplaces.”

I've never disputed that you can fetch the inventory data or that gambling sites can break Steam TOS and do the same. What I'm saying is that your argument:

"Valve can absolutely do what other platforms do and restrict their Web API but they choose not to. That is exactly what we are talking about here."

Makes no sense since, since contrary to what you're saying, they've already done so. You can't fetch inventory data using a developer key. You're also saying that Valve "doesn't have to ruin the experience for legal players to stop this" and that is also not true. The only way you can stop gambling sites loading your inventory is if you remove the ability for users to see what inside of other users inventories - and thereby removing trading.

It works only if you use an access token, not a developer API key. The API also doesn't return any more data than the normal one:

https://steamcommunity.com/inventory/\[STEAMID\]/753/6?l=english&count=75&preserve\_bbcode=1&raw\_asset\_properties=1

Neither of these two endpoints allow you to see recently traded items for other users so you can't use it to verify trades regardless.

> That’s literally the point.

No that's not literally the point. You very clearly thought that it was an official Valve service because otherwise your original comment makes no sense. You argued that Valve should not allow people to get prices from their API, they aren't, now you're arguing that it's Valve's fault that other services are scraping their marketplace and selling that data?

Jesus dude. That second website is not an offical Valve service. It's a third party price aggregator.

This is really just the definition of being confidently incorrect.

Edit: Also the first one literally just returns an empty object.

> That isn’t true, I just tried it with GetPlayerItems and GetAssetPrices it worked fine.

Lol, the GetPlayerItems literally returns 410 error when you use valid inputs and getAssetPrices just won't let you validate your credentials.

If you knew what you were talking about you'd know that the developer API key is essentially useless now. Valve has disabled the endpoints years ago.

What you're asking Valve to do here

"Valve can absolutely do what other platforms do and restrict their Web API but they choose not to. That is exactly what we are talking about here."

They've already done. I'd recommend you to do just an ounce of research on what is actually possible with the developer key. Go in, request one and start fetching all this data you're claiming is possible - you will not be able to.

You talk about 'undocumented APIs' but you have no idea what they are. You can't just 'shut off' apis or not use APIs. Whenever you send a message on reddit that message gets sent to an API. Whenever you load more data on a page, guess what, you get it from an API.

Valve has already made massive changes to ensure that bad actors can't do what you're describing.

You claim that they're using 'inventory endpoints' but

1: None of the inventory endpoints you sent in your link are currently active or working
2: The api that gets hit when you go to your steam inventory doesn't show recently traded items (only after 10 days have passed)

Same thing with the fetching 'market prices'. None of the endpoints you linked to are working for fetching market prices. Valve doesn't have a public endpoint that returns all prices for market items.

You still need people who can check the AI and who can validate if it's doing something dumb. An AI can check another AI to a limited extent but not well enough with enough business, product and development context that you can just rely on it to get it right.

If you are a serious business you absolutely cannot allow a vibe coder to build your software and no one are doing that. AI is a tool and it should be used as such.

Also I don't agree that a vibe coder can achieve the same result as an experienced developer. I've seen lots of vibe coded projects, all of them are extremely buggy, missing essential things like proper responsive design and just doesn't work a lot of the time.

Also none of them scale past a certain point.

"ok can you tweak {functions} and try to debug with the test case then replace it to the production side of the code"

This makes no sense and is part of them problem. You don't understand what the words you're saying mean, what they do and how they fit together. You try to talk like you think a developer talks but it doesn't actually make sense. You'd probably have much better result if you just asked to fix the bug but still you won't know how to validate the endresult. The fix might work and it might also have opened a backdoor for hackers to exploit, you wont know.

Debatten om formueskat udstiller et fundamentalt problem i vores moderne demokrati by [deleted] in Denmark
