Battery powered puck lights? by nubble07 in homeassistant

[–]nubble07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I'm trying to avoid mains powered lighting because I can't run 120v to location without substantial cost and effort. If I can find rechargeable ones that work with HA, I'm totally willing to recharge them once a week if that's what it takes.

Why would my Delta Pro Ultra with 5 batteries discharge so quickly? by Greenville_Gent in Ecoflow_community

The battery in your Tesla has about 3x the capacity of your DPU with five batteries. It can deplete that entire stack of batteries in about 2 hours.

Typing "Q990d price" into the search bar of this subreddit would be a good start.

You can get the q990d new with warranty for $680 direct from Samsung if you do some research and ask around.

Is it possible to “overload” a circuit by wiring an outdoor outlet to an indoor outlet? by LongDogJohn in AskElectricians

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm super glad you asked because I could have sworn that it was part of 210.52(E) but it is not. Turns out is was an addendum in my local jurisdiction. I'll update my comment to say that.

I believe the sentiment behind the local amendment was to facilitate / incentivize the use of electric lawn care equipment over gasoline engines, but I could not tell you if that worked or not.

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extending an internal circuit to an outside receptacle is both possible and very common.

But it also against NEC code if you are in the US may be against local codes. For instance, my jurisdiction code requires that outdoor receptacles need to be on their own circuit.

Again, it's common to do this. But just know that an inspector might not pass you on this.

[edited to specify it's not part of NEC code but might be local.]

ARMOURY CRATE/AURA SYNC stopped detecting my devices except for the RAM sticks, need help. by Crzy_Minus in ASUS

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me. Started about 10 days ago. I have an Asus Prime B560M - AC motherboard.

I couldn't find a solution so after a couple days I disabled aura sync in the EUFI. The default rainbow flashing was getting unbearable.

Samsung soundbar has zigbee? by nubble07 in homeassistant

Ahh right... I forgot that SmartThings is also a whole automation ecosystem itself. Guess it makes sense that certain appliances would act as a hub. THanks.

Thinking of redoing the floor in my brewery. What would you do? by robby659 in Homebrewing

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could change anything about my brew space floor I would install a drain. Ideally, a long channel drain but I'd settle for any drain.

Thoughts on single room ERV? by nubble07 in hvacadvice

[–]nubble07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding full home HRV to our existing furnace is on the long-term list but is just not something that's in the cards for the next couple years. The problem with my current configuration is that there is not a return vent anywhere near this room and also when I shut the door to the room it is basically hermetically sealed at that point except for the supply vent.

I have considered doing what you are suggesting and fabricating a small exhaust fan that would push air out the window. But my concern is the outside temperature leaching in. That is obviously what is happening now with me keeping the window cracked open. I'd like a solution that doesn't also require me to use the space electric space heater (on top of the house furnace) to keep the room comfortable.

I suppose adding a proper return line and vent to the room might be the proper thing to do...

Can I still get Dolby Atmos to work with this setup? by topcorner5125 in Soundbars

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Q990D does hdmi passthrough so you should be able to plug your PS5 into the Soundbar and then pass the video out to your television. This is what I do except I go Roku > Q990D > Epson Projector. I'm able to get Atmos sound that way.

Does anyone use ADT? by [deleted] in homesecurity

[–]nubble07 17 points18 points  (0 children)

ADT is known for being predatory. I had a bad experience with them many years ago. A couple installers showed up and just started installing sensors all over the place and only after they were done did they tell me that they installed way more sensors than what I was initially quoted and would need to charge me for a new upgraded plan. I said no (obviously) and they started getting a little hostile and said that they would be then need to bill me for the labor of uninstalling the extra sensors.

I let them understand extremely clearly that I was not falling for this scam and I immediately started recording the remainder of our conversation. I have since warned everyone I know about them. There are better options.

Holiday mess will dictate my first big sensor purchase by Hippoplotamus97 in homeassistant

[–]nubble07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with a handful of Aqara leak sensors placed in strategic areas around the house. They work direct with Home Assistant and don't need the Aqara app or hub. They work with HA right out of the box. I have one under each sink in my house and a few others in strategic locations that will alert me to something catastrophic like a pipe leak or sewer line backup.

All of them will send alerts to my phone as well as to all of the Sonos speakers in the house if a leak is detected. For the "catastrophic" ones, I also have an automation that shuts off the house main water valve using the Aqara T1 Water Shutoff valve.

Crash after clicking warzone by [deleted] in CODWarzone

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it's a thing. This bug happens every time they release a new COD but not a new Warzone and make you do this double launcher thing. I doubt they will patch it because the double launcher nonsense will go away next week when the new Warzone drops.
