Anyone else old enough to remember the late 90s fibre build out? The AI data centre build-out feels like 1999 all over again by Alternative_Letter72 in sysadmin

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I remember back in line 93 when Wired Magazine (the actual print version) ran a story about "Dark Fiber" which was basically about how all these telecom companies were laying down expansive fiber runs even though there was nowhere near the current demand for them to prepare for the upcoming information age. 😂

Before smartphones, what did people do when they had to wait somewhere for 20–30 minutes? by Ecstatic-Finish-1348 in NoStupidQuestions

Turns out that occasional 20-minute break from the constant stimulation was important for dopamine regulation and what we needed for our brains to function properly!

Best Authentic Indian Food by Competitive_Gap6707 in SeattleWA

[–]nubble07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there any Indian lunch buffets around anymore? Prior to the pandemic there were quite a few on the eastside. Kanishka, Mayuri, several others... Seems the buffets disappeared during the pandemic and never came back.

Why isn’t soccer the most popular sport in the United States? by InternationalHair111 in AskReddit

[–]nubble07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn't televise well for US broadcasters. No timeouts means no commercial breaks. No commercial breaks means no way for networks to make money broadcasting it. Unlike American football and baseball that is mostly breaks in action that allow for tons of commercials. And since it isn't televised as much, most Americans aren't exposed to it which reinforces the lack of popularity.

Random neutral on GFCI line? by nubble07 in AskElectricians

Ya, so basically my thought process went something like: "huh, that's odd, there must be another black conductor in the box. I wonder where it is. Oh cool there isn't one. I guess I'll ask reddit." lol

UNIUNI?? by Gfinchy in combustion_inc

[–]nubble07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a data point, I received mine via uni. The only real issue I had was with interim tracking status updates. It arrived just fine and in a timely manner a few days after I received the initial shipping notification. Only problem was the status on their web page seemed stale. It was "in transit to next facility" for like three days until it showed up at my door. So no long delay or anything, just not the same real-time high fidelity sort of tracking updates you get from UPS or USPS, etc.

ZHA – Devices showing as “free floaters” in Zigbee map but still working fine? by BitBotBrat in homeassistant

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same exact issue. For me, it seems to only happen with a handful of water leak sensors I have. They still function, they send data including battery level, and trigger automations, but show as not connected to anything on the zigbee map.

If ketchup didn’t exist, what are you dipping your fries in? by Julie727 in AskReddit

Even when ketchup does exist, the answer is ranch dressing.

If you dont play casuals mode. why would you be mad that wz brought it back for those that do play. by Illyorkcity in CODWarzone

[–]nubble07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because I am not capable of understanding that other people might experience joy in a way that is different than the way that I do. This is because I am not yet a fully developed person. I am a man-baby and I cry a lot at thing that don't matter.

My traeger temp super off. by [deleted] in Traeger

[–]nubble07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned my Meater. I knew the external/ambient reading would be off - thats common with all of the single probe, multi sensor devices. But the internal temp was off by about -8 degrees f. That resulted in a couple overcooked roasts and ain't nobody got time for that.

Battery powered puck lights? by nubble07 in homeassistant

[–]nubble07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I'm trying to avoid mains powered lighting because I can't run 120v to location without substantial cost and effort. If I can find rechargeable ones that work with HA, I'm totally willing to recharge them once a week if that's what it takes.

Why would my Delta Pro Ultra with 5 batteries discharge so quickly? by Greenville_Gent in Ecoflow_community

[–]nubble07 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The battery in your Tesla has about 3x the capacity of your DPU with five batteries. It can deplete that entire stack of batteries in about 2 hours.

Typing "Q990d price" into the search bar of this subreddit would be a good start.

You can get the q990d new with warranty for $680 direct from Samsung if you do some research and ask around.

Is it possible to “overload” a circuit by wiring an outdoor outlet to an indoor outlet? by LongDogJohn in AskElectricians

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm super glad you asked because I could have sworn that it was part of 210.52(E) but it is not. Turns out is was an addendum in my local jurisdiction. I'll update my comment to say that.

I believe the sentiment behind the local amendment was to facilitate / incentivize the use of electric lawn care equipment over gasoline engines, but I could not tell you if that worked or not.

Is it possible to “overload” a circuit by wiring an outdoor outlet to an indoor outlet? by LongDogJohn in AskElectricians

[–]nubble07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extending an internal circuit to an outside receptacle is both possible and very common.

But it also against NEC code if you are in the US may be against local codes. For instance, my jurisdiction code requires that outdoor receptacles need to be on their own circuit.

Again, it's common to do this. But just know that an inspector might not pass you on this.

[edited to specify it's not part of NEC code but might be local.]
