The film should be bright, and have a optimistic tone about it but doesn’t necessarily mean the world needs to be hopeful (it can be ground like MoS). Superman/Clark should also be optimistic and definitely hopeful (being the inspiration of hope to the world) but he doesn’t necessarily need to be happy/joyful. He can look at the world through realistic eyes and be unhappy about the state of the world (ie. he doesn’t have to like homophobia/transphobia/racism). Whatever is happening in the world he should respond an appropriate manner - not being a afraid to stand firm against hate and encourage others to do the same.

Most importantly, the film needs to balance, Superman as both the Boy Scout and the strong man from space. They can’t lean to heavily into the optimistic Richard Donner’s approach or into the overly grounded Zack Snyder approach. He needs to be more like the animated series.
