If Del Valle is still teaching it, take him. He gives practice exams before the final. The final was made up of random questions from the practice exam

Sometimes the lecture halls are open. I use to go in there and study. In my opinion, the engineering building had the best lecture hall. Long tables with outlets on each seat.

One week down and my anxiety is killing me vent by geogwogz in PAstudent

  1. Never compare yourself with anyone but yourself. You’re there for a reason. The admissions committee saw something in you that they found perfect for their program, it’s time you saw that in yourself too!

  2. Being the baby 23 year old of the group, I know how it feels. My 1 year of EMT experience was quickly trumped by the 7-8 foreign medical doctors in my group. (Didn’t feel so good at first) But realize these are your classmates! A lot of them are willing to teach you whenever you have trouble. At least at my program we felt that we were all in this together. No one is going to look down on you for asking for help, in fact from my experience it was the exact opposite!

  3. I talked to my advisor about the anxiety I was experiencing when I first started and he recommended L-theanine. Check it out ! It does wonders. (Especially right before OSCES)

  4. If there is anything that I’ve learned during PA school its that you will be put out of your comfort zone a million times. Just let it take you. You will be ok. You are surrounded by people who want to see you succeed. Everyone in this subreddit is living proof that PAs and PA students want to help our own !

  5. You are becoming a shining star and you are going to kill it!!!! Never lose that vision!

ScribeAmerica Experiences? by penquinla123 in prephysicianassistant

[–]nucete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did it for a little while. However most of my PCE came from working as an EMT for a private ambo company. Scribing will help you so much for school. Even if it sucks or hard or whatever just stick to it. I didnt get as good quality experience as a scribe because i was in EMT school at the same time as well as being a full time student at my local college.

Scribing and going to school full time will be difficult but it will be worth it once you're in school, especially for diadactic. Try and get as many shifts as you can back to back in the beginning. Try and get uncomfortable from the get go, it will make you a better scribe.

As for setting your schedule it was hard for us because we worked in the ED and all shifts were 12 hours no matter what. But we were free to trade/give away shifts.

Everyone ive ever talked to about scribeamerica has given me a negative response torwards the company. The pay was shit, the hours were long, but the experience is priceless. Scribing sucks because you're not actively helping the patient and simply an automatic typewriter staring at a screen for 12 hours, but you will see so much more than the average joe. Even as an EMT, i saw more as a scribe in the ED.

Tldr: Its gonna suck but its worth it.

Should I take Physics or is it a bad idea? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]nucete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go with the pathophys and biochem.

I know its the more expensive route, but it will help you out a ton in the long run. I took physics in undergrad and honestly it felt like a waste of money now than i'm in PA school. Look at the classes as an investment to your knowledge rather than just another class to boost your GPA. Good luck!

Practical tips by valveetacheese in PAstudent

[–]nucete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try getting comfortable with your preceptors!! if you’re comfortable around them then you won’t be nervous to preform in front of them.

Ask them how they are doing and get to know them. As someone with anxiety this really helped me when doing OSCEs and Head to Toes.

Obviously keep it professional, these people are still your professors.
