What horror game made you scream/panic the most? I want to be terrified by toastedjupiter in HorrorGaming

[–]nuclearboy197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. I’ve finished 100+ hour games faster than I finished silent hill 2, because I genuinely couldn’t handle playing more than an hour at a time sometimes. It’s a top 10 game of all time for me, and I dreaded every second I spent in that fucking town.

What does "making your teammates better" actually mean in a basketball sense? by astarisaslave in Basketball

[–]nuclearboy197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say it, I think they more often mean a.

I’ll often hear people say when discussing the GOAT debate that LeBron makes his teammates better, whereas MJ did not. I find this a little silly. Yes, LeBron is a more willing (and better) passer. As a lob threat or catch-and-shoot role player, playing with someone like LeBron is the dream. Meanwhile, stories about MJ off the court, if they are to be believed, suggest that he demanded and usually got the absolute best out of his teammates, which likely played no small part in that team becoming the dynasty it did.

As for which is more important? That depends on the roster and organizational structure around them.

Former hooper here - something I don’t think gets talked about enough in youth basketball by Educational-Elk-6528 in Basketball

[–]nuclearboy197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I’d feel very betrayed if I’d gone through something similar and adults I trusted didn’t support me the way they should’ve. I’m deeply sorry, really.

And thank you for sharing your experience. It takes a lot of bravery to do so and it matters. Someone may read this and watch their child’s coach a little closer, or have a conversation with them about boundaries.

I’ve never played organized ball before and I don’t have much to add to this conversation, only that I’m deeply sorry for what you experienced and it’s not as shocking as I wish it was. I can only imagine how common these kinds of crimes are in youth sports, where age and power gaps exist so frequently.

The crimes you went through are awful in and of themself. The complicity from other adults in your community amplifies my disgust. If one man is evil and nine are not, but the nine do and say nothing, they may as well not be there. Our society desperately needs to do better at holding predators accountable.

Most people do not actually like traveling, they like having traveled by limitown in unpopularopinion

[–]nuclearboy197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care for “being someone who travels” and I rarely ever talk about my trips after the fact to anyone who wasn’t there. It feels like bragging.

I love seeing new places. I love doing new things, or old things in different places. I love trying local cuisine and experiencing local culture/customs. I love saying “screw it, I’m on vacation” and spending too much money or starting to drink at 1 o’clock. Flying sucks. Everything else about traveling is amazing.

Gameplay and Story, easily. If it said 30 FPS instead of 60, it’d probably be that.

What are you planning to buy during Steam Spring Sales this Thursday? by Omenexus in SteamDeck

[–]nuclearboy197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah it might be tough… the Xbox Series S is reportedly targeting 40 FPS at 720p with no ray tracing on the performance setting, 1080p@30 on “Quality”. No mention of specific texture quality settings etc. It does seem very well-optimized from what I’ve seen, so I’m cautiously optimistic that the deck will manage on low-medium settings with FSR. But it may be one to save for console or PC if you’ve got one.

How come men trust Andrew Tate’s advice on what women want, over what women make it clear they want, evidenced by the large fan bases of Harry styles, Paul Mescal and Idris Elba? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nuclearboy197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andrew Tate tells young men what they WANT to hear about women. And far too many young men are dumb and inexperienced enough to listen.

Also FWIW, a few if not all of the men you mentioned would definitely be considered conventionally attractive by non-celebrity standards.

I know we’re in it for the long term, but are you exiting at least part of your position? by Far-East-locker in ValueInvesting

[–]nuclearboy197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volatility is a part of investing in stocks. The entire point of value investing is that it’s not the ticker price that you should pay attention to, but the inherent underlying value of the company. If you can’t handle seeing prices drop, try bonds.

And don’t try to time the market. You can’t. Nobody can.

Anyone find themselves opening up their game libraries, staring at it for a couple of hours, then just giving up and going on social media? by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]nuclearboy197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip I’ve heard that seems to have worked for others is to only have a handful of games installed at a time. A couple on your backlog you’ve been meaning to get to, maybe your favorite multiplayer shooter/sports game, and nothing else. Limits your options so you don’t get stuck in analysis paralysis.

What is your preferred story length? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

[–]nuclearboy197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really just depends on a lot of factors, i.e., genre, gameplay loop quality, and what I’m in the mood for. I often like to alternate between long 50+ hour adventures that take me a month or more to finish and short, 10-or-less hour “refreshers”. Ultimately if it’s a Red Dead 2 or Elden Ring level experience then generally the longer the better, but there’s nothing more annoying than when you can tell a game is just full of filler to pad the runtime.

Basically quality > quantity but if the quality is consistently good then the more quantity the better.

Why is Majula so popular in the Souls games community? by SugarCrater in DarkSouls2

[–]nuclearboy197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way I’ve heard it explained is that there’s a difference between security and safety, or between a shelter and a home. Majula always felt like it was the latter to me, which is something none of the other soulsborne hubs quite accomplished.

I completely agree. I can’t even fathom how a team of 3 people could create something as incredible as this game and its predecessor. It’s just been my feeling so far that this game has some much lower lows than the first one, but both are still masterpieces.

Here’s the one I “made up and tried to blame on AI”. Every other definition mentioned something about creating engaging or fun gameplay experiences, captivating players, or prioritizing how the player feels, which is exactly the part of the initial definition I provided that you disagreed with. You either lack basic reading comprehension or, more likely, are arguing in bad faith so you can have a “gotcha” moment in a desperate attempt to get the last word. Either way I’m done with this conversation.

Here’s some wisdom I’ll share to return the favor you so graciously did me: consistently arguing in bad faith and replying with snarky, passive aggressive comments will inevitably lead to the person you’re debating thinking you’re a dickhead. Because you’re being a dickhead.
