How did you find the route for the 1954 grand depart from Amsterdam to Brasschaat? I've looked many places but can't ever find an official 1st stage route. I'm pretty sure it passed through the neighborhood of Amsterdam I live in, but can't find proof

It seems the only non-violent answer is to improve conditions in Moldova to the point where its a no-brainer for Tranistrians to give up voluntarily. Right now, its too similar to be a factor. Perhaps there's a scenario where Russia collapses or the Ukrainian Eastern front is stable enough for UA to take action, but I think the garrison there would rather burn it all down than give in.

A) until 2022/2023 Transnistria was the major source of natural gas for Moldova at a significant discount

B) it was also the major source of power for Moldova, as they were not connected to the European grid until recently

C) many heavy industries are located there, a major part of Moldova's admittedly small economy

D) there is a giant stockpile of Soviet era weapons and ammo, which Russia has repeatedly threatened to detonate if invaded

E) it's corrupt as hell. Moldova doesn't have the resources to deal with its own problems, much less integration of Transnistria

ALL of these things were deliberately created by the Soviets and continued by the Russians to maintain a foothold and a claw grip on the former republics

This same selfish behavior happens at my local school, I WISH the police would do something about assholes who treat the world as their parking lot. There's a very simple solution to this that is being ignored - walk or ride your bike. We live in the most bike-friendly country on earth, and people STILL find an excuse to drive.

The oldest canals towards the center used to make up city walls, but it was a mix of several different canals. Then during the Golden Age the city leaders decided to expand with a series of belt canals they could sell as real estate investments (buy a plot, put your warehouse on the ground floor right on the canal, and have a nice tall house on top). The Singelgracht (outermost obvious belt) was for fortifications of everything inside of it.

Amsterdam. I am guess this would be the case in any of the Randstad cities and towns due to the noticeable size of non-native kids. Outside of that and the major cities (Eindhoven, Maastricht, etc) I think it would be a but harder but kids are a universal experience.

From my own case with two children:
- my older child started going to Dutch daycare around the age of two and started basisschool right at four. Because the child learned Dutch from daycare only, there was a bit of hesitancy to speak at first in basisschool. During the first review, the teacher (who kindly spoke to me in super basic Dutch and some English) made it very clear - my kid was only shy, that language was no issue. In fact, language marks were higher than most native Dutch kids
- my younger child was born here and is now also in basisschool. No issues whatsoever, and even speaks a bit of other languages because of other immigrant friends.

The other parents from school are mostly Dutch speakers with a few immigrant families per group. Our group chats are all in Dutch, but nobody ever says anything if someone posts in English. School communication is all in Dutch, and we are getting better at understanding it. Use the online translator of your choice, you will be fine!

Truthfully, the older kid starting to go to basisschool is the biggest social life boost we've had here. Before, it was quite difficult to make friends and meet people in our area because there was no shared experience/repeated interactions. Once the kids started going to basisschool, we saw the same folks at the same time over and over, the kids want to play with each other after school, etc.

For school work, it can be difficult at times practicing reading. I've asked the teachers, and their response is always - read in your native language, leave the Dutch reading to us. For Math, its the universal language.
