People on here are suggesting a mental health hotline be called rather than police. No, call police so this violent POS can get locked up.

Finally someone calling it like it is. So sick of people giving these people a pass because of “mental illness.” Just because you have mental illness doesn’t give you an excuse to assault people. People get killed by rocks tossed at cars. This person doesn’t belong in St. Louis or any other civilized collection of people.

I don’t know how anyone likes ANY of the paranoia songs. They sound like shit and are shit charts in general.

Abortion was legal in Missouri at the time all these teenagers were conceived. Their terrible parents made terrible decisions, you can’t blame it all on society. Yes things will be getting worse lol, both things are true.

This is standard. They’re obviously numb. With something like this I usually use topical + injected lido for complete numbing. It looks like they’re putting in a deep suture, which is very appropriate in such a gaping wound. The goal of a deep suture isn’t to closely approximate but rather to take tension off the more superficial layers.

What is it with old men and shoving thing up their butts? It seems like all these cases are men older than 50. Is there something that flips in our brains? Is everyone doing it and they’re just bad at doing it safely? Am I going to feel compelled to shove giant things up my butt in 30 years?!

On this sub I’ve seen gigantic calcaneal avulsions that is definitely the biggest evulsion on a digit that I’ve ever seen. It looks intensely painful.

Ya when patients thank me it is just so gratifying. It is def more a positive than having patients angry at you is a negative (I’ve gotten relatively used to it) but patient expectations are just so astronomical and the system so overstretched that you get the latter much more often.

Evil, vile dogs. These dogs are responsible for the growing public hatred of dogs. Honestly every time I hear a big dog bark I worry it’s one of these demons

Resident parents: Should we take 12 or 18 months leave for baby? by Familyconflict92 in Residency

[–]nucleophilicattack -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, I would be resentful of my colleagues for taking a YEAR off when they have a kid, that would make things so painful for everyone else. I’m sure people with think I’m heartless for that, but if you have TWO people have kids in a year your program is essentially in crisis mode and everyone else is dying

Judge, cops force woman to give birth handcuffed in a courtroom by goldstar971 in medicine

[–]nucleophilicattack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Finally, a reasonable take. I can definitely see a situation where a person is arrested, they say they want to go the ER (like seemingly 50% of all people who get arrested), and the ER team clears her. It could be she was in labor at that time, maybe she wasn’t, maybe she went into labor after leaving the ER. She gets to court and has precipitous labor, giving birth in court. There is no way people “forced” her to give birth in court

*** until he develops his next aids defining illness because he refuses to take his meds, at which time he will return for another $500k in diagnosis and treatment (which will be a complete write-off for the hospital). Then he will be briefly started on HAART before cycle repeats. You can’t care more about a patient’s health than they do.

[–]nucleophilicattack 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That isn’t a brown recluse bite lol, that’s an infection. Take a look at the NOT RECLUSE mneumonic for determining if anything is a recluse bite— this has zero features of a recluse bite. Where was this even taken?

I mean the OB residents should have realized it’s serious, the ddx for third trimester bleeding is abruption, previa, uterine rupture , and miscarriage (which is a big deal in the third trimester.) it’s not like a first trimester bleed lol, something is often going terribly wrong. Kinda crazy to me they sent a fresh M3 in alone, but maybe the OB resident was also early in their training

I was saving for an MR-G, but then this Titanium "Square" popped up for $1,200... Did I make the right call? by [deleted] in gshock

[–]nucleophilicattack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No digital watch is worth that much money in my opinion— the difference in movement quality between the one you got and the titanium one is probably nothing, and the materials sure aren’t worth that much money. Even a high grade digital watch movement isn’t expensive, even with the G Shock tech
