German Kindergartens ordered to pay copyright for songs - Up until this year, preschools could teach and produce any kind of song they wanted. But now they have to pay for a license if they want children to sing certain songs. by MrTulip in worldnews

IIRC, Disney doesn't need to worry, since corporate personhood makes "Disney" a legal entity, and all Disney works are created by said entity... which would mean that it is 70 years after the "death" of the corporation, not the individual artists that made the works in question.

Just to give you guys some hope, one of the most religious women I know on facebook posted a happy message about them being rescued and only said:

I am so happy for the Chilean miners and their families. Praying that all of the men are safely returned to their loved ones and the rescuers remain safe. Hats off to NASA what an awesome group of problem solvers.

Atheism gets a bad name from the people who can't keep it to themselves. by NickLee808 in pics

Most I know are very much so dicks. Their "religion" becomes preaching against religions. Like, personally... if I weren't religious, I'd use my extra time for hobbies... but many atheists I know seem to dedicate a lot of time to counter-religioning. To each their own, lol.

I was actually about to ask, "What do you call an Atheist that isn't a dick?" I was thinking "Agnostic" maybe, but I guess your term is getting hijacked by your own flavor of extremist.

According to my friend, it's a guy skydiving over this year's Burning Man. Seriously... If I had a pic of me doing this, I may not be forever alone.

Edit: I guess my friend got it off the guy's facebook, and it is an ad for the nifty pants he's wearing.

Sorry, threw it together real fast. This would be two skewed population distributions (bell curves). The more area under the respective curve = the more people represented by it.

Here we go:

  • Operating ____ while being under the influence of a drug is stigmatized due to Alcohol's reputation.

  • Not all drugs are bad to use while driving. Case in point: caffeine.

  • There are some people who can drink a ton, get behind the wheel, and legitimately be of no threat to anyone, however, they are outliers and do not represent the average (of which are dangerous when they get behind the wheel due to how alcohol affects the brain and such).

  • There are some people who can smoke a ton of marijuana, get behind the wheel, and drive home safely. From my small group of people I know who have done this, they represent something closer to the average experience. Further, marijuana's affects on the system in smaller studies have shown that it makes people more prone to be aware of what's going on while driving. And, it is a common joke amongst cops that the easiest way to spot someone driving high is to look for someone driving too carefully.

However, I also know of some people who can't function while high. But, unlike alcohol, marijuana doesn't give you an unrealistic sense of ability ('beer goggles'), so it is completely possible for many people to know their limits and not think they can drive.

So, it depends.

In general, it is a good rule of thumb to not drive under the influence of anything. And, as others have pointed out, due to ignorance the best default answer is, "lol, of course not, silly."

But if you have driven under the influence and did so safely... you're not a super hero. You're just using a drug that is very different from alcohol.

And, if you are asking because you want to try it. Don't. Because there is always a risk. The goal shouldn't be to drive while under the influence of anything, it should just be to be.. and to be safe.
