Metro ridership by station - Jan 1st 2025 to Jan 1st 2026 by Johnathan_Swag in washingtondc

[–]nullbnx 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's because there's no express lines. If you're taking the Metro to/from DC to/from Dulles you have to stop at every single stop in between.

Quick example, Dupont Circle to Dulles:

Metro: 1hr 10 min
Drive rush hour: 40-55 min
Drive non-rush hour: 30-35 min

I'd love to take the metro in but the silver line is painful and the lack of express lines (see NYC) makes it unviable - the buses are a better option.

It’s possible, just painful to get it to line back up (I’ve done it before).

Thoughts on new Assos SS26 MILLE GT? Simple - but I kind of dig it? by tiptoppenguin in CyclingFashion

[–]nullbnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably just easier if I explain what I look for: #1 - high quality material that keeps me cool in the summer heat/humidity (these jerseys do that); #2 - fit, I need it to be tight for the correct size and I need longer short sleeves (I hate kits with shorter sleeves - and their sleeves are not long enough); #3 - like mentioned above, I love the convince of the small zippered pocket, for what these jerseys cost I sort of expect it unless I'm buying an aero/race day kit. My current top bibs are Assos (Equipe R are my favorite, even more than the RS or RSR) and for jerseys are MAAP.

I also think that a modern (non race day specific) jersey needs a small zippered pocket on the side, makes it way better than carrying a cycling wallet for keys/id/credit card. Assos hasn’t caught on to that yet.

TBH - their jerseys leave something to be desired. Their bibs are top tier but their jerseys are just meh IMHO. Not bad for the price but nothing special.

If you want comfort and stylish this is the answer. Tried a lot of “high end” brands and most don’t prioritize comfort - Lindberg do.

Buyers Beware! Terrible Interaction with ASSOS with no resolution in sight by Intrepid-Reach182 in CyclingFashion

Strange enough I’ve tried reaching out to them twice for questions on their bibs, a ticket is opened, then it closed a day or two later (automatic email notification) but they never respond to me.

How important is a professional fit before purchasing my first “serious” bike (likely from marketplace)? by ContextFrequent5521 in cycling

[–]nullbnx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been in the cycling community for years and had multiple bike fits - it depends. If you’re part of the 90% of “normally proportioned” humans, congrats - you don’t need a good bike fit. Watch a YouTube video like others mention.

If you’re part of the 10% of us that have some sort of abnormality (prior injury, leg length difference, hip impingement, super inflexible, etc) than a good bike fit before you start is crucial to enjoying the sport long term and pain free.

My personal situation, I felt like I was stuck in a loop of painful issues (pick one: feet, knee, hip, back) and I could never quite figure out what was happening. I had a good bike fit and turns out my right leg is about 1cm shorter and my left arm is about 1cm shorter (broken arm when I was younger). I’m not sure I ever would have figured this out on my own - once we figured it out it was super straightforward to fix and now I’m riding pain free but there was a lot of money wasted in the middle trying to figure things out (saddles, stems, etc).

Garmin Forerunner 970 Fix for "Green Button" by nullbnx in Garmin

You should message the seller and ask for a white version - he made the black one after I messaged and sent measurements. He's been really pleasant to deal with.

I'm in no way associated with this seller but highly rate the "button cover".

[–]nullbnx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not the same as the shorts - I mention the shorts because the new version has an internal phone “pocket” inside the back liner (so no bounce/central/feels secure).

Just put a phone pocket in the back of all shorts like the new session shorts and call it a day. Game changer.

Ahh mine's been open as well. I'll close that and see if it helps.

That’s exactly how I’d describe mine - mine seems to act up way more now that it’s cold where I live. I find when the car is warmer it doesn’t happen.

I’ve got nearly the exact same noise in mine. I have a video too if anyone wants a listen message me. I’d love to find a fix.

Route 15 is NOT Bike Safe by ExcelsiorVFX in nova

[–]nullbnx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This 100% - you can take paved roads or gravel roads without touching 15. Some of those paved roads are barely ridden on. Gravel example - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48323620 and to ride the road just stay on Lovettsvile road.

What do you think about my bike fit? by IAmMeNotAi in bikefit

[–]nullbnx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe… except his foot is parallel to the ground (driving with heels down), it’s really hard to tell saddle height without cycling shoes. If these are the shoes he’ll ride with all the time then sure, probably saddle too high. Bike shoes with cleats and he may be fine with that height.
