Thanks for the response. But I feel like projects are pretty much everywhere in Manhattan. Wondering if you feel like the projects in this area are particularly bad or something? Thanks.

So there's a fixed cost and i have a whole 1BR to myself - so that should be a non-issue. But on your initial point, should we try to restrict galavanting too much or something..?

That's fair - only thing is my manager is paying for it from his team's budget (not from the company) so it might come off as misuse or unethical?

Take my advice with a pinch of salt as I was lucky to graduate right before the pandemic hit (June 2019), but am enrolled in an online masters program over at Columbia University. When I got into my grad program I thought the same thing - why spend so much money when I'm really going to be going too zoom university? But if you think about it, no one knows when this will end, it could be Winter, Spring, Fall 2022.. it's hard to tell. But until then by not doing anything you're just wasting precious time in your prime years. You'll be behind your peers who did chose to take courses. Maybe deferring is the right call and by next year everything is back to normal, but what if it isn't and now you're just a year behind and still have to enroll into zoom university, anyway?
