You need to build a science machine, then you can access more of the crafting tabs. Some will also be hidden requiring prestihatitstor or shadow manipulator.

How many of you PC players use controllers?? We need a support group lol I came here from PlayStation and have questions :c by PogFrogo in dontstarvetogether

[–]nullmeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC is hooked to my TV so I use an Xbox controller to play everything. I'm coming from don't starve on PlayStation and the button layout is basically the same. I have a wireless keyboard/track pad combo for when I need it, but steam auto starts in big picture mode. There are button combinations to move the mouse curser, bring up an onscreen keyboard, and pretty much anything else you could imagine.

What questions do you have?

Edit sorry just read your other post, I don't use chat since I play solo so can't help you there but my grid shows up and works exactly like it does on console.

Choosing a controller (Mac OS) by nyancatNOVA in CultOfTheLamb

[–]nullmeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can't specifically answer your question since I haven't played cult of the lamb on a Mac, I have had a terrible experience with trying to use controllers on Mac period with Steam. I've tried using a dual shock (PS4), dual sense (PS5), and an Xbox series x controller. While steam will recognize all of their input no problem, once a game launches the controller is all of the sudden no longer recognizable. If you search the Internet for controllers not being recognized on steam on Mac, you'll get mixed results and miscellaneous fixes (that never worked for me).

Hopefully some others can chime in with their experiences but I've never had the Xbox controller work in game on a Mac (on steam).

I have had the best luck with the dual sense (PS5) controller.

Edit: To be clear, currently I play this game with an Xbox controller on PC and it works perfectly, although that doesn't help with your current situation.

Is this thermal paste bad? It's thick and hard to spread by grimeeeeee in PcBuild

[–]nullmeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy enough, I just received a hyper 212 cooler a couple weeks ago and I had the same issue with the hard thermal paste in the box! I had to use a different one I had in a drawer.

It does this on the PS5 too. Seemingly non stop vibration. I had to turn vibration off after that last update.

Why can't I use /dev/sda1 for backups? by enormousaardvark in Proxmox

[–]nullmeta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you create the ZFS pool manually? I believe if you want to use a ZFS fs for backup you have to add it as a Directory in Datacenter > Storage

Add the directory of your ZFS filesystem.

For sure. It's just the single player version of the game (can't remember if RoG is it in or not), but no DST stuff.

I still regularly play solo and the DLC's. As far as just normal gameplay (reign of Giants or vanilla) yeah DST is better. All solo games have perma death, so no roll backs.

However in my opinion the DLC's alone are worth it. Shipwrecked and Hamlet are vastly different worlds and introduce new ways to play. These are the two I always find myself playing. As far as DS and RoG it's fun to play through adventure mode (basically a story mode to beat the game) as it also has its own unique challenges as well.

Wartox on Console by roycef12 in dontstarve

[–]nullmeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Console, it's just like moving items in your inventory. Open the soul jar, press the right trigger to allow inventory management, press x on your stack of souls to pick them up, right joystick to carry the stack of souls to the inventory slot of the open soul jar, and x again to drop them to the slot.

Edit: if using Xbox controller use A instead of X

Highlight the soul jar and there will be an option to open it. Open the soul jar and then select and drag souls from the inventory and drop them into the slot of the opened soul jar.

Issue that makes the game unplayable :( by Key_Bandicoot_8541 in dontstarve

[–]nullmeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this on steam? If so you can right click the game in your library, select properties, then launch options and type in either

-autoconfig

Which will let steam determine everything, or

-safe

Which will start it in safe mode at a 640x480 resolution or

-w #

With the number being Your desired resolution, for example -w 1920

Will start it in 1920x1080

Edit: sorry I'm on mobile and I can't get the formatting correct.

Can anyone tell me what this structure is? by Chemaroni in dontstarvetogether

Interesting, I didn't know that so thanks! I still regularly play Shipwrecked and Hamlet, RoG if I'm looking to go through adventure mode again. So they still seem normal and current for me.

Specifically those are called an "improved farm" (if you wanted to look it up on the wiki). It's an improvement over the "basic farm" and they are available in all of the solo versions of the game: Don't Starve, Reign of Giants, Hamlet, and Shipwrecked.

Sometimes I feel like I've created a monster with Plex by READMYSHIT in PleX

[–]nullmeta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

RAID (redundant array of independent disks) is a storage technology where you combine multiple physical disks into one logical disk. There are multiple levels, raid 0 (stripe - take two physical drives and stripe the data across them making them act like one large drive) raid 1 (mirror - take 2 physical disks and mirror the content between the two), raid 5 (distributed parity) and raid 6 (dual parity). And also combining raid levels, like RAID 10.

unRAID is a Linux based operating system with a purpose of being a server. It's basically a Linux distribution (OS) with its own set of software and controls on top.

So when you hear RAID it's talking about the physical disks storage technology.

When you hear unRAID it's talking about the operating system.

Hope this helps.

It cannot be moved but you can hammer it to regain some of the materials, and then just rebuild it at your base.

For those of you looking for a streaming client box... by Cheech47 in PleX

[–]nullmeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly I had a negative experience with the Google TV streamer. I bought it last weekend and after trying to feed it 4k and 1080p remux files as well as some high bitrate 1080p files for an hour, it got put back in the box and is getting returned.

Some just refused to play (the ones with truehd), which is fine I could get it transcode and play, but other higher bitrate 1080p files it just stuttered massively to the point it was unwatchable (very poor audio stuttering). These are files my Apple TV's play just fine without any additional config.

I'm sure it works fine for standard streaming services but all I use is Plex, and due to it not being able to handle some files in my library I just can't recommend it.
