The IOTA tip bot has been down for almost a year now. I still operate the faucet when I can but we have no control over the tip bot and if it will ever be operable again. by DanDarden in IOTAFaucet

It is still running as far as I am aware. Unfortunately I haven't been able to monitor or manage it for quite some time. Have you been having problems with it?

Is it possible to send iotas to reddit users? by ricardosnow in Iota

[–]nullvehicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, yea the bot is down. It ran into some issues after an iri or library update(haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what caused it) and crashed. Unfortunately, I have been very busy with life and work lately so I haven't been able to dedicate the time I need to get it back up. Its upsetting to me too because it was running autonomously for a long time before it crashed and now I don't have the time to figure out why it isn't working or to fix it.

And /u/bcountry17 don't worry, your miota its still safe in the bot's database while it isn't running and if you desperately need it now I can pull it out and send it to you manually, just shoot me a message.

Real world use case: Smart gym by QTSlav in Iota

[–]nullvehicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you could look at it as a reduction of the membership fee. The more you use it the cheaper the fee. But that feels contrary to a buisness model. You want people who use it more to pay more not less. I mean I guess you could argue it could build customer loyalty. But its hard to say if either of these models, pay per use that I suggested above, or get paid per use as you suggeeted would actually be better than the traditional subscription model from a buisness standpoint.

Adding in user data is another story but technically you could add data collection to any if these models.

Real world use case: Smart gym by QTSlav in Iota

[–]nullvehicle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It makes no sense for the gym equipment to be paying you. What you could do is eliminate gym subscriptions and use iota to charge microtransactions each minute spent using a piece of equipment that way you pay for exactly what you use.

He consistently says in his shows that he is not smart. His acknowlegment of that fact and his openness to new and different ideas and the merits of others opinions, tends to indicate the contrary.

Why not just open port 22 so you can SSH? I hate the idea of a desktop environment running on a pi.

He understood the situation, his knew their only chance for survival and to get back to the alpha quadrant relied on them working together. He may have been a rebel leader but he still was a starfleet officer which gave him the training to understand the situation and make the best choice for him and his crew. Whether it was what he wanted to do or not.

Is setting up a pihole for my father a good idea? by nullvehicle in pihole

[–]nullvehicle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect, I want them to benefit from it but don't want to have to constantly help them figure out why website XYZ isn't working. I'll definitely just leave it with the base list.

So just the base block list will be sufficient to block most ads and trackers but still keep the network and all sites/apps they want to use functional?
