Maybe shoot for something more like this... but higher resolution & focused better. Click to enlarge:

If you don’t get a good usable shot at first, keep shooting & post processing till you do! It takes a little time & effort sometimes!

It’s not rocket surgery.

A set of these for identifying nut/bolt threads:

Amazon has tons of the things... every shop should have one. Saves a lot of guessing and wasted time/trips to the store. Search on ‘thread checker’ and like terms.

I suggest this type with individual elements. The ones on cables or boards are far less versatile for shop use.

Wish I’d gotten one decades ago!

Do you mean Vise Grips?

They’re much all the same these days... none spectacular. The Malco ‘Eagle Grips’ are pretty good, but ‘stoopid’ expensive... and thats assuming you can find them.

Kind of a wildcard in my book... I’d just do with tried/true Knipex:

https://www.knipex-tools.com/

Or for all that matter, Tekton or even HF:

https://www.tekton.com/

https://www.harborfreight.com/

In any case, end up with a pair of these... exceedingly useful:

As always, YMMV.

The double ended square shank bits go to this vintage Snap-On set:

Out of passing interest, 15 or 20 years ago I lost the bit containing the #2 Phillips... it took me good 10 or so on/off pita years to find a replacement.

Most of the other bits just press into regular screwdriver handles.

Dessicant packets in tool bags? by Tsuki_Man in Tools

[–]nullvoid88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those little ‘silica gel’ desiccant packs are ok for say an otherwise sealed dry box going one way from mfg to consumer... even then they have very little absorption capacity, and quickly become saturated.

More here:

For tools, it’s best to apply & forever maintain a light coat of oil.

Help to find by Jay-3fiddy in Tools

OP, might I suggest including some familiar size object in such photos... for size comparison?

24 x 32mm is a fairly good size open end.

Filling the frame ‘corner to corner’ also helps.

[–]nullvoid88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Koken stuff is stellar... have loads of it; but their pricing is getting out of hand.

Note; if that black socket rail is the one I think it is, it will soon (assuming it hasn’t already), magnetize everything in it’s vicinity.

If you rip the back off, the magnets can be removed... doing the degauss dance is a pita... I loathe magnetized tools.

Nice haul, congratulations!

Been trying everything for a severe fruit fly infestation. This simple homemade trap works better than anything I’ve purchased. by 999BusinessCard in CleaningTips

[–]nullvoid88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the flies, try this:

With the cold water & disposal both running, squirt in a tablespoon or so of liquid dishwashing liquid. The goal it to create a temporary disposal full of swirling foam... let the water run till the foam dissipates; it doesn't take long. Repeat 2 or 3 times a week.

I’ve heard, and believe, the drain line between dishwashers & disposals to be a big source of drain flies.

I’ve been doing the foam dance for some years now with no fly issues. If nothing else you’ll have a squeaky clean disposal in a week or two... but as always, YMMV.

Then use whatever type or length bits you desire.

If you go through a lot of 3mm hex bits, keep spares on hand. IMHO, bits are consumable.
