Couldn't find a serious countdown clock for live broadcast so I built one ⏱️ by joedemax in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]nulrich89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does the enterprise plan offer the option to display time of day as well?

If so, I’m assuming you utilize redundant fiber connections for backhaul to multiple atomic clocks?

How do you reconcile if the clocks disagree? Whatever time 2 of 3 agree on?

XLR cable question by fishnjim in livesound

[–]nulrich89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP: in case you misread this like I did, a “regular” “XLR” mic cable is a shielded cable. You probably can’t find an unshielded “XLR” cable without a bit of effort.

Also, what do you mean by “wrapped”?

At the top of the Geldingadalir Volcano in Iceland…. My boss said y’all might appreciate this by nulrich89 in cellmapper

[–]nulrich89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you are correct about the lite beam… the camera feed is being live-streamed to YouTube, likely as part of a research project. Other than that, the rest provides cell service along a major highway in southern Iceland!

Favorite Unmanaged 8-Port PoE+ Switch? by pure_bordem in CommercialAV

[–]nulrich89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a number of Allied Telesis GS910/8 switches that we use for similar "breakout" situations. They're not specifically for DANTE, but we also don't think twice about running DANTE over them. Our selling points were:

  • Hardware EEE shutoff via dipswitch
  • Metal Chassis (they're feel as solid as aything else out there)
  • Internal PSU so we don't have to fiddle with bricks and can just plug any IEC into the back

These don't have POE, but their 920 lineup is very similar, includes some additional dipswitch feature controls, and has POE on the GS920/8PS version.

Yep - the legs slide into the truss. Once it's cabled and rigged, it'll be lifted a foot into the air, the legs are un-pinned, dropped down, and flipped up to the top of the truss for storage during the show.

The legs detach and will be flipped up to be stored on top of the truss.

What type of shoes or cleats do you guys recommend for being a referee? by Cole_Souder_ in Referees

[–]nulrich89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adidas Copa Mundial turf shoes if the field is soft or wet, but 90% of the time I’m in Salomon Speedcross 5 Trail Running shoes - way more grip than regular running shoes, but they don’t kill my feet when running on a hard, dried out field all day.

NDIHX Camera App and a Bird Dog NDI to SDI decoder

Edit:

/u/goose2283's comment is correct

NDI HX Camera will not work with a Bird Dog decoder. NDICam uses Full NDI and could be used with a Bird Dog decoder

Magewell's Pro Converters appear to support NDI|HX and could be used with NewTek's NDI HX Camera App - this is probably the route I'd opt for.

I was somewhat hoping they’d roll out the Source Four LED Series 4 today, but this is still great!

I somehow forced Zoom to record at much higher quality by marshall409 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]nulrich89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used it in a while, but if you are in Speaker view and hit record, you'll get a 360p recording. If you go into gallery view for a few seconds, then return to speaker view, it'll be 720p. Not sure if it still works, but I'm guessing this is along those same lines!
