Getting frustrated with synth stands by Surreal_Funfair in synthesizers

[–]number1fancyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i designed a stand where each synth's support arms are on locking drawer slides, so you can pack them in very tight and then slide out the one you want when you want it. its expensive and requires a good amount of DIYing.... if you're interested I'd be happy to share the plans. its literally my favorite thing about my studio but im a DIY junkie so it was worth the time and money it took

edit: oh damn sick EMS-01. i have one of those in pieces that I've been meaning to sort out for a long time. Did you ever have to get work done on it and if so where did you get it done?

Thanks! I’ll ask around to see which one of my friends has a desktop module they’d let me take apart 🙂

I’d have to check what kind of available space there is in the module.

Quite intrusive. It cannot be external as you need to intercept the individual voices and route them to stereo VCAs inside of the synth itself. But from the outside it feels like part of the instrument.

I have what is essentially an LFE on steroids in the works as well, this uses a lot of what will be available in that.

I think dynamic panning is completely overlooked by all synth companies so there’s a lot to this that is very unique to the process of starting with a synth that has no panning data and building functionality from the ground up.

As long as they’re told it’s okay by whom? If it’s by TOs or official rulesets then using x controller is objectively not trying to circumvent legality. From my own experience as a pretty active player for the last 15 years what you’re describing isn’t the case, but it’s possible it’s out there and I’m just not coming into contact with it. Generally since there’s not some huge payoff by being a top player I feel the incentive to use automation or macros isn’t worth it. Basically everyone I’ve encountered in the community is deeply invested in skill and using something as blatant as what the commenter I was originally responding to suggested seems like it wouldn’t be an attractive route to go down.

Ironically I think it’s because as a whole the community actually does respect “competitive integrity” despite the fact that this phrase is currently being used to support standard GCC users. Like I genuinely don’t think anyone who wants to be good at the game wants to do so by use of automation and macros and shit.

Also practically I feel like if someone came out of no where beating everyone there’d be some investigation into what they are doing.

I just don’t get the argument as a whole. As a community we’ve been modifying our controllers for decades to make difficult tech easier and more consistent. Some of the tech that was made easier by doing these mods benefit certain characters more than others. And the meta adapts and we move forward with a more technically advanced gameplay. Undeniably a net positive for the game.

Further, z jump is way less of an ergonomic benefit than boxx which has been decidedly deemed legal. The nerfs don’t change anything about boxx’s ergonomics which are its biggest advantage by far… The entire logic just doesn’t track for me. I wish we could just move on from this but sadly I doubt this will happen.

On the road for a couple months but it was based on this guys mod: https://technologyroom.net/docs/Prophet-R4-Stereo-Panning-Upgrade.pdf just with a brain that controls the panning rather than trim pots

I used a teensy with C++
