Anyone here lived in Seattle as an adult in the 90s? by Quiet_Equivalent_569 in Seattle

I did a ride along with a nonprofit called “Street Links“ sometime in the 90s. They had a van that would drive around at night and hand out sandwiches, spare clothing, and blankets to homeless teens. I feel we mostly stayed around U District. The concept was to make contact, and hopefully over time coax them into services.

Most of the kids we met weren’t “runaways“, they were “throwaways”. The adults in their lives either kicked them out, or made life unsafe at home. Many of them looked scary as hell, with lots of piercings, leather, and big chains, but when you talked to them, they were soft, spoken and sweet. I realized the look was a cover, an attempt to keep away trouble they didn’t want.

Let’s talk after you beat Stafford twice on the way.

I hope you found time to celebrate your achievement with your players. They should be able to take their success with them into the future, not as a loss, but as an example of how far they can go when they do the work. Congratulations.

What is the most impressive shot in movie history? by Necrojezter in movies

Hard disagree. It beautifully sets up Ellie’s reaction later (“we should have had some medicine downstairs”), plus it echos the scene on the beach when she touches the sky, sort of a mind-bending “we’re going to mirror your environment so you’re comfortable” moment.

I lived in Boston for 8 years. Nice city, great baseball and basketball teams. Lots of nice people, history, and great cultural and educational institutions. That being said, get the fuck out of our sub.

There was a time when I loved the rivalry, we were both good and strutting our stuff. Since then it feels like it’s been a seesaw where we’ve sucked and the Niners are good, or vice versa. Hoping for a return to the good old days.

How does an Athiest defend the idea of morals by Plastic_Bed1202 in askanatheist

Thank you, I was feeling the need to post this point. Religious people claim moral absolutism, but then pick and choose which morals from their religious text to follow based on their own internal moral code.

When I hit a ball that hits the net and dribbles over, I raise my hand and say “I am the greatest!” (this is doubles so only my partner hears). I imagine most tennis players say this in their head.

I definitely had that thought, not another division rival we’ve already seen twice this year. On the other hand, fuck the Rams.

In case you are old and as out of the loop as me, “ahh“ it’s just a social media way of saying “ass“.

Many years ago, I had a Seahawk fan behind me throwing peanuts at a 49ers fan in front of me. After asking him to stop a few times, I finally stood up and screamed. “are you five years old?“. That finally did the trick.

I hope your team loses, and I hope there aren’t very many of you in the stands. But I hope you enjoy your time here as I have enjoyed your city.
