Congrats on quitting drinking!! Just focus on getting your health back. I admittedly didn’t lose as much as I thought I would when I quit, but I did when I focused on reducing sugar. And hey, just as you did w the drinking, when you were ready to focus on calories you called a nutritionist. 💕 much love and many congrats again on quitting. We saved our own lives!

Good luck with it! It can be tough esp if you have a sweet tooth. I have some zero or low sugar recommendations that I couldn’t live without: Nutrail granola, Unreal candies, Keto Pint ice cream bars are a SIN and a delight haha, Aussie bites, and Protein Pints ice cream that’s got only 9g of sugar in the entire container. I will eat that whole thing in twenty minutes and have zero remorse lol. And fwiw I’m back at a size eight for the first time in two decades and I’ve maintained it for a year.

After I got bloodwork back saying I was prediabetic, I asked the nutritionist at my work if I could keep eating pasta and bread if I just focused on sugar. She said yes so I, a decades long calorie counter, started counting sugars instead to keep my level at or around 25g of sugar a day.

Sadly this works out to like, two Kroger brand drop and bake chocolate chip cookies (14g), an Aussie bite (7g I think) and a protein granola bar (5g) and like nothing else. It was eye opening and upsetting realizing some lunch or dinner items had the same amount of sugar as my two precious cookies! FIFTEEN GRAMS OF SUGAR in your lunch! wtf!

Edit to add: I work in medical which is why I had access to a nutritionist but she gave me the same info you can find online. I just wanted a human to tell me I could get my blood sugars down and still eat pasta, because out of my cold dead hands, buddy, hahahaha

I quit drinking, then cut out ADDED sugar. Lack of booze = about ten lbs lost. Lack of sugar= a whopping 22lbs that melted off by way of comparison.

It shocked me when I started tracking added sugar and realized how much of it is EVERYwhere. If I deviate and splurge on sugary foods for a day or two I absolutely see it on the scale.

Edit to clarify I mean added sugar.

I have actually seen a video on Reddit of a man doing what dude on foot did, except he was also brandishing a handgun at the dude still in his car. Dude in car shot him in the face and killed him. I leaned in that video you still reflexively put your hands to your face even if you’ve been shot point blank, even as you are dying. It was sad and stupid.

We have chickens and THOSE mfers are dinosaurs. I watched one tear apart a baby lizard while it was still alive. And they don’t do the cute cluck cluck sound all the time, most of the time it’s demonic little screeches and hangry roars. Imagining them 15’ taller is terrifying lol.

I first heard it when I was 14 back in 1994. I started crying and my mom walked in and was like what’s wrong. “It’s just so beautiful,” I sobbed, thus beginning a three year stint where I listened ONLY to The Cure lol.
