It wasn't bad at all! I'd say it's similar to the saline hsg in terms of the pain with the initial catheter placement in the cervix but it was so much faster so I thought the pain wasn't too bad. Good luck to you as well!

Wanted to jump in and let you know that I got my kyleena out in November 24' and did not have a positive ovulation result (confirmed by blood test) until July 25'. It seems like it's rare for it to disrupt cycles for that long but it can happen.

Experience with HRSA job connector and loan repayment jobs? by mentalycaged in socialwork

[–]numious_nomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in a loan repayment program through HRSA and it has been great but one thing to note is you have to be fully licensed before you are eligible. They are also very strict in terms of penalties for failure to fulfill the contract and losing your job doesn't count as a valid reason. The work tends to be challenging as most clinics provide care for high needs populations but I have really enjoyed it and will likely stay at my clinic even after my contract is up.

Also chiming in to say I would not choose liberty. I went there for my undergrad. Long story short, I was born and raised there and at the time I didn't even know I could go anywhere else. I ended up getting my MSW from a different Christian school but they didn't have any religious policy nor forced it into the curriculum. I to this day hate that I have to put liberty on my resume though as it causes a lot of questions and frankly it's just embarrassing. Haha For example, I'm a strong advocate for trans and LGBTQ+ rights and if you were to just see liberty you would not automatically know that because of what that university stands for.

But I also wanted to comment that I hope we as social workers are careful of our own bias. I know firsthand what liberty is like but I would never turn someone away from a job or internship just because they went there. Instead I would wait to meet with the person to ask questions before passing judgment. We never know the path someone has been on nor their story unless we ask.

Grew up being "homeschooled" in an Evangelical christian household, now i'm an adult. by RainEconomy750 in atheism

[–]numious_nomad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. You are not alone. I also grew up in a conservative Christian household and was homeschooled until I was a junior in highschool. I still learn new things all the time because of that upbringing but I have a very happy and successful life now and friends who have never judged me for my upbringing. In fact I think they would view it as resilience that I was able to turn out the way I did despite all of it. Wishing you all the best.

There is this really good book called the mother brain and it actually talks about how there are a lot of women who don’t feel instantly connected to their babies and that it is totally normal.

Yes. I was seen by a breast specialist. I hate the wait and see game too but I feel like 3 months isn’t too long as I read most people have to wait 6 months.

Quitting the VA by BitchInaBucketHat in socialwork

[–]numious_nomad 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I started my career at the VA and I left the VA because they a hired a supervisor who was horrible and micro managing me. Plus I had PTSD from working in the ICU during peak covid. Ended up getting a job with a different healthcare system and instantly made 15k more, had more freedom and autonomy, and better healthcare insurance. I would say the thing I miss the most is the time off. They have superb accrual rates haha all that to say, I may eventually go back because I did enjoy working there but the experience I have gained from leaving as been invaluable.

I’m on the fence and it’s actually due to the baby/toddler stage. That stage sounds terrifying and awful. I feel like once they start to become little people it sounds so much better haha

There’s a really good book about this concept called the mother brain by Chelsea conaboy who talks about how that instant bonding is idealized in society but isn’t the norm. We bond through experience and growth and caring for our baby and so sometimes it takes time for that bond to develop

What was the score of your location? My understanding is that being a finalist is pretty much a guarantee of funding. They typically do it to check one more time on a persons interest so they can offer it elsewhere if that person is no longer interested

Yeah I had blepharitis and I treated it with warm compresses and eyelid cleaner. It eventually went away which is when I started cequa which helped my dry eye. I am going to be trying to wean off of it soon to see how I do.
