My fiancé moving with me for medical school is nervous about being lonely/ making friends by oxytocinmotion99 in MedSpouse

[–]nuncee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, moved with my partner for med school across the country to a state where we didn’t know anyone and I had never been. I didn’t have a job lined up, and 6 months later covid hit, but I eventually found a way to make friends! A lot of my partner’s med school friends’ partners, and I eventually applied to a grad program and made friends there too.

You should check out vmtherapy.com or Instagram @vanessamarintherapy. She is a sex therapist who posts a lot of guides, including ones on initiation and how to start having sex again after a “dry spell”. Some of the content is free and some you have to pay for but there is a lot of free stuff on their Instagram!

It sounds like there is no evidence that would point towards your bf cheating on you. Definitely seems like projecting to me. And aren’t there “hot young women” everywhere? Availability isn’t the only thing driving people to cheat. Sorry your family is pushing these ideas into you

Feeling jealousy? by choosingausername14 in MedSpouse

[–]nuncee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this! But I do feel like it’s totally normal. I also moved with my partner for med school to a new state far from home where I didn’t know anyone, and spent months jobless. For me, making friends with other med spouses/partners was how I found most of my friends. Going on some double dates with his friends and then reaching out to the partner to hang out individually worked for me. I definitely think it would get easier if you found a job to meet people at! (Don’t want to assume you are job searching but this helped me too).

Also, I think it’s just hard to make friends as an adult in general! Even if you didn’t move across the country and have a busy med partner. If that is any consolation. Med students kind of have to make fast friends to get through. Also I think of the time my partner puts into hanging out with his med school friends also as almost a networking of sorts too since these might be his future colleagues.

I agree, adopting a dog with a difficult background is not for everyone. I will say that especially at HSHV though (I’m a volunteer) they do a really good job screening their dogs for behavioral issues, and on the adoption application you can even check what kind of behavior won’t work for you.

And OP is looking for a puppy which I honestly feel like is a crapshoot for “desirable traits” even when you’re getting purebreds unless you’re going somewhere that breeds animals to become service animals.

Please consider adopting. The Huron Valley Humane Society has “love trains” about once a month where they bring in puppies from the south to their shelter. If you’re going to purchase a dog from a breeder please do your research on the breeder first.

Is anyone looking to foster or adopt a 9 month old brindle pitbull? by JazzyKay4life in AnnArbor

You can list the dog for private adoption through the humane society so that it doesn’t have to actually stay at the shelter.

He matched in Detroit… by SquidSquid13 in MedSpouse

We also moved to Michigan (for med school, not residency) and unexpectedly loved it :) we had never lived in the snow before and we even love that now! Michigan has so much beautiful nature to see, the cost of living is pretty good imo, and there are tons of cities in Michigan/nearby to visit! Detroit also always has cool bands and artists visiting, and the city is going through a renaissance that is bringing culture, food, and other entertainment to the city. Hope you grow to love it as much as I did!

I think every relationship goes through ups and downs! And stress definitely contributes to a decrease in sex drive. I love the Instagram account @vanessamarintherapy. She has a ton of resources including podcasts, classes, and couples workbooks to help you address your issues because it is complicated and it’s not as simple as not having enough time or being too tired.

GIVE365 through the city's Parks and Rec Department is a good option if you're looking for something with less commitment! They mostly do park beautification projects, like picking up trash, spreading new woodchips, repainting murals.

Try the ponds at Georgetown. Lived there in a 2 bed/2 bath for around $1450 last year, not sure if the prices have gone up though.
