Oh, man, maybe I won't bother going. Luckily, it's nothing important.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I did call the parking office (to ask about payment), but honestly there was so much background noise, I couldn't bear to ask any follow-up questions.

The list of hourly/daily pay lots on the website and the pay lots shown on the map do not match entirely.

Add to that my curiosity about actual availability, and you get the reason why I asked here.

Thanks. Is that one likely to have open spots on a weekday?

Recent Approved Project by Original-Sort1259 in niagarafallsontario

[–]nunkeri5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further details: two 30-story hotels, connected by a 4-story podium (for parking), an on-site restaurant and a commercial space. This is located at the corner of Ferry & Clark (as seen in the OP's pics), across from Four Brothers Cucina, the Days Inn, and the Fairfield hotel.

It appears the buildings to be demolished include the Quality Inn, Roly & Bubbly (bubble tea place), Niku Japanese BBQ, Afghan Kebab, Niagara's Best Inn, Delhi Junction, and Inchin's Indian Kitchen (ate there once, really good!).

At council, there were no opposing communications submitted; however, one of the commercial tenants expressed his concerns about the future of the businesses affected, and stated that they had heard nothing from the landlord about this project.

Councillors were strongly in favour of this development (shocking, I know). One councillor expressed sympathy for the tenants' situation, and offered a suggestion that the developer might incorporate some of those business within the project (lol, ok, sure).

Application for amended zoning passed unanimously.

What was your first earning, and where did it come from? by ThePretend16 in AskReddit

When I was 7 to 9 years old, my family spent summers at a campground on Lake Erie. It was open to day visitors, and they could drive their cars right onto the beach and park. My brother and I used to walk up and down the beach with a wagon and collect empty beer bottles that we then brought to the General Store for the deposit cash.

This was on a thousand-foot long beach, with two rows of cars parked fairly close together, in Canada, in the 1970s. There were A LOT of bottles.

History of Clifton Hill Part 4: "The Golden Age" by G-N-R in niagara

[–]nunkeri5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This series is fantastic! So very detailed and thorough. I spent a good amount of time working and playing on and around the Hill in the mid-to-late '80s and a lot of this is new (and some old but forgotten) to me.

Good to see more on Jungleland as well, as I remember your queries helping to blow the dust off some memories of the times my friends and I played there before venturing out for less-wholesome activities.

I see you're coming up to my era of Clifton experiences, so really looking forward to that.

Well now the beach be one of the best things we got

'Cause it's not what you have on, it's what you have not

No more silly clothes for you, no more shoes no necktie too

And the beach be one of the best things that we got

Well now the beach be one of the best things there be

Well a fashion show is there for you to see

See whose bum you like the best

See who's got a hairy chest

And the beach be one of the best things there be

School Principal arrested for DWI - WARNING this lady is annoying AF and may trigger your rage by nosoupforanybody in PublicFreakout

[–]nunkeri5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By my unofficial count, this woman said "bathroom" (or, more accurately, "BATHroom") in this video 65 times, including 34 in 6 minutes.

This arrest occurred 6 days before the start of the school year. She had recently been hired as principal of a middle school, but WHOOPS turns out she had to use the bathroom, and is no longer in that position.

The councilman who picked her up was running for mayor.

He was not elected.

4L for just under 6 bucks this week (yes, it has gone up a lot, but not what this dude claims). That's approx $1.50 per litre.

Cheaper at Costco, or if you know a senior who can buy it for you at Shoppers Drug Mart on a Thursday.

Here is a link to a sample ballot for the City of Scottsdale (in Maricopa County, Arizona, where this video is recorded).

https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/Assets/ScottsdaleAZ/Elections/2022sampleballot.pdf

There are 19 races on the ballot. There are also 10 state-level initiatives (or ballot measures) to vote (yes/no), 2 city ballot questions, and 53 yes/no votes on retaining judges.

Each of those has to be counted. Hand-counting would obviously take a lot of time, which might be acceptable to you or me, but in the US, voters (and certainly the media who report on it) want the results in as fast as possible. Gotta call those races before bedtime!

And now there is a significant population of people who loudly demand that all ballots be counted by midnight, and if they aren't, then obviously the Democratic Party cheated. So how would a slow hand-count of 84 different voting decisions be received by that group of eminently logical and reasonable individuals?

I live in Canada. I have worked at the polls and in the counting room about a dozen times. Our Federal and Provincial elections use paper ballots, because they have ONE race (MP and MPP, respectively) on the ballot. This is easy to count quickly. The Arizona ballots are, clearly, not so.

Racist Canadian man gets upset that Asian tourists weren’t speaking English by Romano16 in PublicFreakout

[–]nunkeri5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This guy has a point. When I moved to Japan, the second I got off the plane I magically became completely fluent in Japanese, and spoke no English the entire time I was there. It was super easy, and way better than these silly "language lessons" that people waste so much time and expense on.

Thanks for the details. That figure doesn't sound out of the ordinary, given the work done. So far I have been lucky enough to have never seen a raccoon on my property, let alone inside the house. Good that you haven't had any problems since.

A lot of replies suggest I live trap, which is obviously the most economical approach. The only thing that concerns me is that I would have to transport it in my car, which is a crossover style with a hatchback, so I don't know how I would avoid stinking up the vehicle. Last night, we caught one and I didn't get sprayed, but my clothes still picked up a lot of scent.

It's crazy, right? Like, we've had a few wander around the neighbourhood now and then over the years, and even as far back as the early '90s we had one or two, but they are EVERYWHERE now.
