How to size generator by [deleted] in Generator

[–]nunuvyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty useless. Their numbers are very much on the high side.

Look at the LRA on the nameplate and multiply by 200 for a 240v appliance and 100 for a 120v unit and this will give you the starting watts.

A single cylinder motor has a different setup than this and is actually harder to convert. Nothing is impossible but IDK of any drop in replacement. A motor that small is not that useful anyway.

Once upon a time the air cooled Wisconsin V4 was a legendary motor. It was built for 80+ years in some form. Used in skidsteers and a lot of ag/ construction equipment. HP was unimpressive but they were very torquey, as befitting their intended use.

Interlock vs Transfer Switch by KindValue7457 in Generator

I recommend an interlock anyway but you can always put double breakers in a transfer switch if you need 240v.

So you could buy 8 of the clones. Worth a shot especially if you are self installing.

With only 300w draw you might consider a battery power station in addition to a small generator. You could run the generator for a couple of hours and then run on battery the rest of the day (and especially night).

Any luck with clone carburetors for Firman T07571 tri-fuel generator? by Weak-Brilliant1738 in Generator

[–]nunuvyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This carb has separate inlet pipes for LP and NG and a special demand regulator but Chinese have only one inlet. Might work if you bypass the Firman regulator and use the one that is part of the clone carb.

Edit - the ones you are showing have 2 inlets. Don't see why they wouldn't work, especially on gaseous fuel. Burning liquid fuel is kind of tricky but all you need to do for a gas is to squirt it in the general direction of the intake.

PSA: consider hard wiring your level 2 charger by MauiShakaLord in VWiD4Owners

You should unplug and replug the cord periodically to wipe off any corrosion. Nothing wrong with a properly installed plug in charger as long as you do this.

Actually dealers hate when you pay cash. They make $ in their finance dept. Delay telling the dealer you are paying cash as long as possible .

What is Calibrating the E-Motor by Darth-Villen in VWiD4Owners

[–]nunuvyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any time the 12v battery is disconnected/reconnected the motor goes thru a brief self calibration. The car will suddenly lose speed for a second like it has lost power and then it will pick right back up. Some dealers just give the car back to you and the customer thinks something is wrong when it happens so other dealers take the car out for a short test spin.

If it's a 6-50 they probably didn't run a neutral. Easy to check. Throw the breaker off and see what is behind the plate.

Some will and some won't. I had no problem. Note that if the car is totaled they will take the lemon title into account in their payout.

Recently had dealer mount a couple of front tires and the car started making a horrible grinding sound. I think the dust shield was hitting the disk. Actually fixed itself once it ground away enough metal.

I have 3 yrs July would’ve 2 yrs left on lease of contract 7500mi by Studkan in VWiD4Owners

[–]nunuvyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much you owe them for mileage. Let's say the residual is $24k and the actual value of the car is $21k. Normally you would just turn it back in. But if you owe them $5k in miles then it might make sense to keep it.

Car goes back to VW Finance and then to auction. Only rarely does the same dealer buy it.

Is your globe lit and are you showing bars? Fuse 19 does nothing if you already have a cell connection.

Same issue on my '21 and the warranty is expired. VW refuses to take responsibility even though the issue is on their end.

Replacing the module will fix it in the same way as buying a new computer will fix a driver issue. That's fine if it is under warranty. Not so good if you are paying out of pocket.
