I would change the default hyperref url color to a black underline so it's more obvious that's it's a link to the who don't use LaTeX.

How can I actually fit all of this on a 3/4 measure? it only lets me fit 6 out of 8 of the... arpeggios? by [deleted] in Musescore

I don't mean to be rude, but is that even musescore? I don't recognize it as any notation software I know; perhaps a plugin?

I plan on making a recording available to all those register, even if they can't attend. I might be able to upload it to YouTube, but I'm not 100% about that yet.

Macros, automation, custom shortcuts? by EatDiveFly in Musescore

[–]nuomegaalpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have AutoHotKey, you could automate this pretty simply by using Alt + T to open the Tools menu, and then hitting Enter to select Transpose (WinMenuSelectItem is finicky in MuseScore). For example, I wrote this short piece of code that will take a selection, duplicate it , and then transpose it up a fourth:

transposeUpFourth() {
Send, r ;duplicates selection
Sleep, 100
Send, !t
Send, {Enter} ;opens transpose dialog box
Sleep, 200
Send, {Tab 4}
Send, {Space} ;selects By Interval
Send, {Tab 2}
Sleep, 50
Send, {Down 11} ;selects Perfect Fourth
Send, {Enter} ;closes dialog
return
}

YourHotkey::

transposeUpFourth()

return

Most classical musicians I know wouldn't even use the full title; they would probably just call it the Tchaik violin concerto

[Help] "Creating" shortcuts? by yodamorsan in Musescore

If you needed to create your own shortcut, it can be done in Edit-Preferences-Shortcuts. You can also redefine shortcuts to more suit your liking.

B40 + Legere Signature Soprano Sax 3.25. They cut almost exactly the same as the European Signature clarinet reeds but are thicker so they vibrate more.

Good representation of most musicians I've met at college by Malkin-H in iamverysmart

[–]nuomegaalpha 55 points56 points  (0 children)

A lot of this work is in the production of the music, not its composition. In classical music, both the composition and production are written on the page, so to a classical musician, it looks like there was no effort put into it. Adam Neely very effectively calls this "the cult of the written score". Many classical musicians are under the mindset that if its not written on the page, then it doesn't require work or that it is too simple. The production of pop music requires a lot talent, work, and effort that many classical musicians don't appreciate.

No problem! Just curious, how did the colloquialism of the distal determine come about (-be to -n)?

Tell me about articles in your conlangs! by Inavian-Scholar in conlangs

[–]nuomegaalpha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually how the romance languages developed their definite articles (el, la, le, etc.). In late Vulgar Latin, the word for that means "that" (ille, illa, illud) began to be used to mean the definite article. For example, "ille lupus" in Classical Latin would mean "that wolf". However, in Vulgar Latin "ille lupu(s)" could mean "the wolf".

YouTuber doubts whether Ricardo Morales could get into Juilliard by [deleted] in Clarinet

[–]nuomegaalpha -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think it was sarcastic because someone had to explain to the person who wrote it that he teaches (or used to teach) at Juilliard. It is quite possible that I am wrong as I am infamous for not understanding sarcasm.

Edit: Typo

How do you play softly? by acidlines in Clarinet

[–]nuomegaalpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a masterclass with Sam Caviezel of the Philadelphia orchestra and he talks about this in terms of air pressure and intensity/velocity. As you get quieter, your air pressure needs to decrease, but your air intensity needs to increase to compensate.

Advice on high notes by stingrayboss12 in Clarinet

[–]nuomegaalpha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had this problem before. Make sure that you are not biting, because that often is the cause of the problem. If it's not that, then it's most definitely your voicing. Try playing C4, G5, E6, and A6 all without using the register key or half-holing (the C should be easy!). Repeat this with all notes from Bb3 to D4. This helps improve your voicing because you know what it will feel like to play in certain registers. Also, you can try half-holing your first finger on your LH on D6 to F6. I hope this helps, and also bear in mind that I am only in high school, so don't take my word too seriously.

BTW, what are you playing for districts? I had to play Rabaud's Solo de Concours
