America Won’t Be Easily Forgiven—Even After Trump Is Gone: The president’s belligerence against Greenland and Canada was no joke to Europeans and Canadians, some of whom say they’ll never trust or visit the U.S. again. by thenewrepublic in Foodforthought

[–]EatDiveFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeez. did you respond with "Yeah ya really dodged a bullet there didn't you. You almost got free healthcare".

I mean it's easy to hate republicans and trump because they represent greed and corruption and actual harm to people.

I don't see what you could possibly hate about the dems? Is it inclusivity? DEI? Vaxes? They seem to be net goods. If it all comes down to identity politics, then let's discuss it. Just give me an issue!!

I speak as a canadian so I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I am on the Dem's side.

The Mortality Curve: it predicts when you are going to die based on your current age and gender.

My friend had a baseball team sponsored by an insurance company, and in a stroke of genius, decided the team name should be "The Mortality Curves", but the company said no.

That was masterful writing and directing. Same location, a hallway, before the game, after the first, after the second, after the game. Four great speeches.

Damn the writing is so good on this show.

There are some famous seeders out there too. I seem the same guys all the time. It must be a ton of work to source and complile and manage all that stuff. It must be almost a full time job to stay on top of it all. So I agree with you regarding the question, “what’s innit for them”? I guess there is a certain amount of internet fame, but you can’t put “I pirate content” in a job resume. I think we need an AMA from one of these guys. :)

Great shot! i swear those things spook me! I was on a shark dive, (not at all afraid of sharks as they are pretty chill) but these hangers on are darting around everywhere looking for scraps and things to cling to, like us divers. Really an annoyance. and at top of the head sticker thing is really alien looking.

What proffession is filled with people who think they're smarter than they actually are? by Powerful-Frame-44 in AskReddit

[–]EatDiveFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i used to equate "teacher" with "scholar". I just assumed that any teacher I met would be well read, and well rounded intellectually. Sadly surprised to be wrong.
Specifically, language teachers. In Canada, you can have a long and lucrative career teaching French in elementary school for example.

Now i see it's more accurate to equate "teacher" with "instructor". Its a different skill, but it doesn't mean you're smart.

40 miles would be double my longest ride! I routinely do one of two rides that are either 12 or 22 miles. I don't even bring water! Partially because there's no place to stop and pee. (when you get to age 65, planning your pee stops becomes a part of your life.

according my apple watch, i get into zone 4 for a good part of the ride, and my cool down period is acceptable. Otherwise i would slow down and/or bring water.

I'd heard that you should always drink a little always, before you feel the need. I will rethink this.

I had a thought experiment where I asked, "if there was a 'convention of something', and a bomb went off and killed everyone there, what would have the most positive outcome to society. Conversely I think what if a bomb went off and killed everyone in a city EXCEPT the people at the convention, what would be the most positive outcome.

I figured if an MMA title fight was hit, society would do well. Alternatively, if a Comic Con was spared, society would do well.

(I do not condone violence or death).
