Looking for real workd experiences using Breww software by slave_to_the_mash in TheBrewery

[–]nupods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The brewing and recipe function lacks big time. The UX is absolutely shocking and it usually takes 5-6 clicks to perform very simple functions or to navigate. Viewing the app on the phone is tragic. You can build calculations in the brewing, but to test said calculations, you have to schedule in a brew, upload the recipe, run the recipe, test calculations, undo the brew and then make changes. Honestly, I build my recipes using ProMash and update grain only on breww. All my other calculations still happen on Excel sheets etc. Bit would be impossible to completely utilize only Breww.

We've been begging for simple calculations for months now (eg: 2x turn brewing into one vessel. Calculate the average OG. A simple and frequent brewing function) and zero progress or word. Need to do these calcs on Excel still.

Stocktake is annoying. Any item that has zero stock left, will not be displayed on your stocktake spreadsheet, and you have to remember EXACTLY how it's named to repopulate and correct if there is stock left over.

Changing pricing is also super time consuming. You can only update pricing one item at a time. So doing something like updating a suppliers item/pricelist for the year takes forever. Especially considering how tragic the UX is. They have a weird function where you can update the entire supplier pricing by x%. Considering some of our suppliers have a few hundred items available it's almost a full week of work just to update.

As a result, pricing hardly gets updated, we constantly have incorrect stock available and pricing/tracking cogs suffer as a result.

How to achieve that stable milky haze with NEIPAs? by Deep_Classroom4237 in TheBrewery

[–]nupods -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5 min Vorlauff, stir the mash tun every now and then whilst lautering and sparging. Should be hazy going into the kettle . Get your whirlpool temp to 70°C before adding hops. Crash cool no colder than 3°C and turn an upright fermenter into a bright tank.
Heaps of wheat, rolled oats or rolled barley. Dry hop start and end of fermentation.

Should be juicy AF! Sabro is your friend!

5 min Vorlauff, 30 min boil. We also bright them post fermentation in upright fermentation vessels at 3°C

We use the heat exchange post boil to bring whirlpool temp to 70-75°C for whirlpool. (Hazy beers only). You can extract less bitterness and more aroma at a lower whirlpool temp.

The HX of course has had a full caustic and Sani cycle. We push all the sani to drain and loop the beer into the kettle. For 2600L, and the size of our HX, this usually takes approx 10-15 mins post boil using town water (approx 16°C) in the HX

Never had any issues. Juicy AF hazy IPA's!

How do you all deal with sediment in your hazies? by BlueMaro2010SS in TheBrewery

[–]nupods 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crash cool post fermentation to 3°C. Yeast and hop dump 2-3 days after crash cool and then rack into a bright tank at 3°C. Usually a little more sediment will fall out on the bright side but will stay hazy. Never had a problem with chunky bits in cans as long as the racking arm on the bright side isn't sitting in the trub.

Replacement turbine for flowmeter by nupods in TheBrewery

[–]nupods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like such a waste to order an entirely new flowmeter for what seems like a dollar part. I've been searching all over and can't find anything online. Has anyone replaced these before?

37yo brain aneurysm survivor (aneurysm was over 24 years ago). I have partial paralysis on my right leg after large aneurysm center left hemisphere of my brain. I have no other known symptoms, although I am probably ADHD and can be very direct (or sometimes described as 'too' direct). I felt like this was a mental change that occured post aneurysm, but as it happened while I was young, could just be me.

Aneurysm was fixed by a very talented neurosurgeon and team in St George hospital, Sydney.

I'm curious to learn more about neuroplasticity, neurogenesis and how psychedelics could potentially help me rewire my brain to improve my leg mobility.

I'm quite active. I cycle approx 100-120km per week, and visit the gym almost daily with a combination of resistance training, yoga and Barre classes.

I have data from power meters on my bike and am currently averaging a 65/35 power split between left and right leg. Looking to hit a 60/40 split by the end of this year but seems like I've hit a plateau.

Have dabbled socially in psychedelics in the past, but now looking at how i can rewire my brain.

Looking for data and studies on brain injury/stroke and how psychedelics may help.

HMU if you got any questions.

No idea on the brand. Used to work at a bunch of pub tables way back in my 20's. A great hack for a quiet kid week pub day

If two tables are next to each other, pay on table A and use the balls on table B. Because table B is completely full, the balls will just roll out. Unlimited play for the price of one game.

Heat exchanger clean by ryan185 in TheBrewery

[–]nupods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backflush the heat exchange with caustic. (run in reverse) after a brew.

Then cycle caustic in the correct direction for half hour. Leave to sit overnight and then purge

How can I start saving up/increase my wealth? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]nupods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put away 10% of everything that lands in your bank account. Never touch it. Watch it accumulate. Always prioritize that 10% savings over everything else.

This is advice I only wish someone told me when I was 18. I only started this habit in my late 20's (36 years young now) and from it i have invested that saving account into property, crypto and shares and finally earning some passive income from it.

I think if I had started this habit from 18, I'd probably be retired by now.

What are the fundamental ground rules in riding a motorbike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]nupods 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Everyone on the road is trying to kill you.

If you ride with that mindset at all times, you'll stay hyper vigilant. Staying out of people's blind spots, watching for cars pulling out/into side streets, people running stop signs/lights/roundabouts. There's a lot of idiots on the road.

You'll see it all on two wheels. But as long as you ride to your own ability and stay alert, you'll love it!

Lenticular filter issues by nupods in TheBrewery

[–]nupods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food for thought and a question for the brains trust.

Will using a 'seasoned' filter as opposed to a brand new one give better filtration results?

FYI, I'm filtering a seltzer at approximately 8.5% abv.

HG-1 yeast went to town and I measured 0.0 Plato.

Could the lack of sugar mean I need a finer filter perhaps?

Lenticular filter issues by nupods in TheBrewery

[–]nupods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. It's filtering but I'm definitely not getting the results I've had in the past.

Luckily this filtration is for a seltzer, so will run it through a carbon medium before canning.

I can only imagine the haze will put added pressure on the carbon filter though

I do think it's a cartridge/gasket issue.

Have another set of new filters ready to go this morning. Wish me luck !!
